X Power Vibes Fix?

Have they already tried the steering damper on your car? (Just trying to work out if these parts relate to the damper, which is already known not to work, or relate to the "fix" per the TI document that has been leaked).
To my understanding its a rear frame and some bushing that is the problem.

The steering damper was an attempt to fix the issue that failed.

As for the steering damper fix I guess so. The dealership I bought it from, Ringwood MG, when asked about the vibe as I knew it was there when I bought the car, said nah it hasnt been done but it will be and should fix it before we deliver the car, which was total BS because I think it was done before I purchased it but it obviously didnt fix the issue!!

And Ferntree Gully MG haven't told me that its hasn't, so they can check what recalls (dampener fix) have been done or not so I would assume if it hadn't they would have let me know!!

The service manger did say to me he has been working on cars for 20 years and as a regular mechanic everything he has learned over the years he has had to unlearn to re learn about electric cars. Put simply electric cars are a whole different ball game vs ICE cars!!

i will also ask about the buckled rim warranty when i pick my car up tomorrow.

Ferntree Gully MG are also trying to fix my software for some reason after the latest update which Ringwood MG (actual place of purchase) haven't even rung me about since took it back a few weeks after I bought the car to fix the navigation!!

The new lane keep assist scroll down 1 button disable didnt work on my car for some reason (almost like the software didnt take or something) but that will be sorted through a new update or software patch!!

Mine is aJune 23 build date so most likely one of the first X powers destined for Australia!!

Great stuff that they are doing it and it puts every MG dealer in the UK to shame but you sound like you live in Lord of the Rings land with Ferntree Gully MG and Ringwood MG, it's quality.

Ringwood have been terrible if I’m honest I wouldn’t buy a car from there again or take my car there for a service ..

Ferntree Gully have been amazing..
Not sure what’s so hard about giving good service! People are creatures of habit. Sell me a good car that works properly!

(MG as in MG have dropped the ball on that one my guess there will be A LOT of people not buying MG again.)

Give me good service and I’ll keep buying your cars and servicing them at your dealership.

So IF I ever buy another MG I will buy it from Ferntree gully MG.

BIG IF if, anything like me.

Got to agree as I've said. We have the Trophy for 2 years then it's gone, company car and take what you're given, I don't think the company will get MGs again as there have been a variety of issues reported by people who use them.

No cost to us so I don't make a huge deal of it but if I had spent my own good money as you have and been lied to and treated as shabbily as you all have then it would probably be a definite no to another MG

Got the phone call i wanted to hear today..

Ferntree Gully MG rang me this afternoon and said we have some good news we have ordered a whole bunch of parts that should fix the vibe issue there is a lot of rubber bushes and a frame that needs to be replaced ..

Parts are on back order so 4 to 6 weeks till the parts arrive but this is sounding very optimistic that there is a fix and one that may be the fix for the vibes..........

Thanks for the update and please keep us all posted on here👍 . It will be very interesting for us UK Xpower owners to see if they can fix your vibe with these parts, after being told by MG UK that they don't. I'm sure your roads are very similar to ours 😊😉.

Picked up my car today from dealer honestly happy to be back in it after driving my Mum's 2005 Corolla (80k on the clock but still a good reliable car to drive).

Service manager was told by MG to order a final drive something and fluids for it so could be a gearbox of sorts (obviously the EV MGs are 1 speed) so interesting!!!

As well as the frame and bushes etc etc!!

Now it’s the waiting game for the parts to come in from China.
🙂

I will definitely ask the service manager when the parts are in and fitted what has actually been done to fix the issue if it does indeed fix it!!!

Probably find UK roads are better just WAY WAY less of them considering you can fit all of England in my state of Victoria alone!!

The are some truly terrible roads here..

I think and just a guess our consumer laws are much much harsher here than elsewhere they protect the consumer much better than anyone else!!

So MG would be silly to play around with our laws that could be one of the reasons

Good News Pal.
And yes they have a gearbox.
Not the traditional type obvs, but a box with gears taking power from the motor to the output shaft.(probably)
Now...... What do you think about the price of eggs?

Sounds promising 👍 .... not heard of the final drive / gearbox before as a vibe source, so definitely very interesting to see how you get on.

Good luck !

Quite disappointed you didn't jump in there Jonny?
I've heard eggs can be very expensive 'Ooop North' this time of year?

Aye lad !!! .... Av erd MG parts are reet pricey too !!

Around £2000 for the suspension parts alone according to @CaseDismissed, let alone fitting.

Add on a gearbox etc... and it's certainly not 'owt for nowt ' for MG Australia 👍

I wonder if MG Australia will progress a few of these repairs now, or just wait till this first one has a result one way or the other.

If I were to guess...

You add conversion rates etc etc ..

If case dismissed is saying 2000 pounds for his fix

Aud is going to be very costly!!

Add a gearbox of sorts then add labour on top of that I’m starting to see why MG have been trying everything to wiggle their way out of it..

That said ( and like I’ve said in previous post )

Take the hit fix the car happy repeat business customers!!

Sadly though from the comments I’ve seen on here since I bought mine they have progressively gone from optimistic to outright bitterness and frustration !!

I don’t think with the small numbers of the X power sold that this will hurt MG for the maybe 1000s of first buyers overall to the 10s of thousands of buyers in the future will never know the issues we have had

Yep that 5N is definitely on my list.

Best of all worlds.
Nutter and involving when you want it.
Quiet and sensible when you don't.

Just waiting for it to get to 40k.
Circa another year I reckon.
Don’t know what’s on my radar next I’m in the position where my X power really will be a throw away item with little to no value in 7 years ..

At that time I’ll be well into my 50s is a sporty racing EV really going to suit me it’s like them 60 to 70 year olds that buy super fast cars that IF they ever used its full potential they would likely have a heart attack and die 🤣🤣

The EV industry is moving SO quick now in 7 years there will be something much cheaper faster and more interesting..

The vision N hydrogen car is the one that would be shut up and take my money if I’m honest!!

The vision N hydrogen car would be my first choice I think ..

I like the idea of hydrogen I’m just more scared of it as to get combustion it’s a small hydrogen bomb of sorts..

One thing I do know is if this fix is successful the lowered springs will be going in soon after; they're starting to rust I’ve had them so long🤣🤣

Pilot sport 5s and lowered springs🤣

Technically, fusion and combustion are very different processes, involving very different scales of energy production.

But I'll agree that hydrogen is scary as a fuel. The pressure in the tank, pipes, and fuel delivery system, plus what happens in the case of a major accident.

Edit: I realise now that I'm contributing to a fairly major topic drift. Do we want to keep this thread about the vibration issue, moving the gearbox and hydrogen discussion to one or perhaps two separate threads, or are we happy with this level of thread drift?

vibe issue ..

I was just making refence to which car i might look at next and hydrogen is the future future imo !!

Make this become a reality and i may sell a kidney for one:)

I don't see hydrogen as the future at all, if there is going to be an alternative to BEV car then it will be synthetic fuel, it is already being developed for F1 if successful it will become mainstream.

Don't worry about it my friend.

We all know about the vibes.
We all know about the possible fix.
IF they ever fix it' I'll start a new thread called...

FMe! They have only gone and fixed it.
(Can I get some odds for that??)

I started the thread and am happy for us to all just witter away.
