Crash due to Lane keep assist.

Could you try it as a warranty claim? Probably hard to make that point with software, but at the same time it sounds your software might be glitching and is therefor "not fit for purpose"? It'll be a long shot I guess...
According to some members because theirs works fine it's not an issue despite MG admitting it doesn't work as it should in the Which report.
Should use that article to back up the warranty claim.

Did your head lights switch on and off, e.g. driving through tunnels?
There were no tunnels. Hot sunny day here. Took my dog to the beach.

Let's see how @siteguru gets on at his 2nd service next week with the promised update.
Just for clarity ... I have NOT been promised the LKA update next week - I merely requested that any required software updates be applied. What I did say was that I would report back whether the LKA update was available and had been applied. :)

It seems to but is not consistent.

On my drive back this morning I switched LKA off before starting, got confirmation screen and toggle switch was off. Yet part of the way back I was getting unnecessary steering interventions and then saw the LKA icon had turned green. I had not stopped.

¯\(ツ)

There's something really wrong with your software. I've had that happen a couple of times (in over 18 months) and each time it was very early in the trip and I wasn't entirely sure I'd done it right including the confirmation screen. It normally stays off really reliably.

Didn't Joanne the Hairdresser describe a similar issue which led to her rejecting her car?

After 4k miles, I've come to the conclusion that lka doesn't do what people say (for me anyway). Maybe I just hold the steering wheel more firmly than most, but in my experience it doesn't actually steer you radically off course. It tweaks the steering wheel to let you know, but if you are holding the steering wheel firmly then it doesn't take it from you. So for me it's the same as my Merc which used to vibrate the steering wheel for lka.

Having got one of the very early Trophies, I was blessed with the bug that kept LKA switched off permanently. After 2 years I've finally conceded that I should get the software updated so it is now on R59. With that said, this is my solution to sometimes forgetting to turn off LKA when starting a journey:

Same here. More or less... I revert it Alert mode, disable the speed recognition and also disable the beep.

Mine is in for its 2nd annual service next week too. Like you I have asked for any software updates that are available, without specifying. Lets compare notes after!

A bit rich is making an assumption because we all know how that turns out!!

Just because your LKA works doesn't mean everyones does and the fact over two years in it's still not rectified for everyone speaks volumes.

Back to the assumption bit I have driven an MG4 on numerous occasions and if you have read any of my previous posts you would have known my wife has one as a company car, has done for a year, and it is currently one of 3 ev's sitting on my drive so I have a direct comparison of various versions of the system from various manufacturers and it is the worst!!

[Gratuitous snark deleted.]
I said, 'I know other people have problems with it'. so recognising that LKA is not liked by everyone.

The assumption bit was guided by your profile that clearly states 'Not driving an MG'. Sorry, I don't have your personal history, just what you choose to make your profile - I don't wish to read all your past posts and learn about your personal life

Thank you, Mods, for deleting the gratuitous snark

We've got a RAV4 hire car now, and so far the LKA is streets ahead of our MG4. It's just a gentle pull at first but slowly gets stronger as you deviate further. There's no element of grabbing the wheel at all. I can easily live with it. However we haven't been on unmarked bush roads, that could tell a different story. But there is a button that switches it off.

That is probably an old RAV. They gave me a Corolla when my Auris was in for services. That one also had a button and acted similarly.

(Although I'd say it was maybe 20 seconds, I haven't really timed it.)
I’m not proud of it, but I have timed it 😵‍💫
My particular ‘ignition sequence’ takes 7 taps in 8 seconds. Assuming 100% accuracy on the taps. My wife has it down to 12 seconds. (She hasn’t had the ‘game console’ time I’ve had 😂

I also find it gives me a quiet few seconds to take a moment before heading out. I’m less likely to back straight into an unopened garage door 👍
