Hi, I’m now in to 2 weeks of PFL or Mk1 MG5 ownership. The car was first registered in 2022, so will have first MOT later in 2025. However when I bought the car there was no service history documentation that I could find (have emailed the dealership and await a response).

A driver of another ev suggested it might be recorded on the cars computer or otherwise the car would prompt me when a service is due. The other idea was to approach MG Motor and enquire as they may know.

Any thoughts or advice? Ultimately I would like to try and maintain the 7 year warranty in place and that will require having the car serviced appropriately.

Thanks.

Service history is stored online at MG. If you have MG Assist (AA) cover then the servicing is up to date. MG dealers have access to the service record but I'm not sure if end users can access it directly.

You need to have it serviced by MG to get the AA cover extended.
Did you buy the car from an MG dealer and how many miles has it done?

With that milage it should have had 3x 15k services.
Contact MG to see what service information they hold for you car.

Have you checked its MOT history. With that mileage it might have been a taxi which requires an MOT from new. If it was a taxi the warranty is extremely limited.
Just checked. It is stating first MOT due in 2025.

I will get in touch with MG Motor.

Another option is there is an independent garage nearby which is apparently approved by MG to do servicing and states they will update any service to the ‘online service record’, and states any warranty will be preserved. Just wonder if they would also be able to say what service history there is with MG/Mg approved services.

Hello
When I had HS PHEV serviced my MG garage would send me a print out like any other garage with my AA cover for the year, This I pasted on when replaced with my MG ZS, are you aware that small MG dealers lost the wright to sell cars but are still service centres for MG cars and you can set up a service plan on MY MG .com which you can pay monthly or the full amount.
