First Frost of the year, this morning, and quite a sharp one, too. The car was White. First Frost for my X Power. So sat in the car, powered it up. Heating on full, blower on full. Heated Steering wheel and seat on. And Heated rear window on. Back in the house, finished me Coffee. 5 mins later, back out. Car totally frost free, car inside, lovely and Toasty. Drove off. Brilliant! 🙂👍

I would have simply used the app to remote defrost (with the car locked) ;)

If your car is close to your front door as per @salty, your as well and as quick (probably) to do it yourself.

I've a trip of 50 meters to my car so I always use the app.
Horses for Courses.

Sounds good @salty, but I can't believe the orange didn't just melt the frost away on it's own, did you happen to notice if all that heating used much leccy?

It doesn't tbf.

And even if it did (which it doesn't) your comfort and safety takes precedence over saving a few m/kWh. (IMO).

The problem with warming the car by getting into it first is that you can't then get out and lock the car - if you do that the HVAC turns off. With the app the car remains locked at all times until you unlock it. :)

But you can still get out if you wish, as he has already figured out.

I suppose it depends on where you live and whether you are comfortable leaving your car 'running'?

Put everything on again this morning.
Heater and Blower on full.
Heated Steering wheel and seat on.
Heated rear window on.
Went in finished me Coffee.
Was on 44% 5 minutes later 42%
I can certainly live with that, for a Frost free, lovely toasty car. 🙂👍

That's good advice and I'm talking from personal experience a fair few years ago 😬🫣.... it can happen to you 👍.

Luckily I had a witness and the insurance company paid up as it was on my private drive and not the road.

Hmmmm...... we just had our first 40°C day on the weekend, and it's only spring over this side ... a frost sounds appealing actually :DJan and Feb are our really hot mths, although March is starting to trend that way as well ...... I guess we'll see a few 50°C days over this coming summer, the last 3 cooler yrs have spoilt us so we weren't ready for it.

Can they drive off in it, though. Without the key in the car. Even if they knew about pressing the brake pedal first. 🤔

Try it and see. After sitting in the drivers seat go and put the key well away from the car, then try and drive the car away.

If that doesn't work it may do if you sit in the car and press the brake before getting out and hiding the key.

I'm almost certain once you've started driving (left park mode), you can chuck the key out of the window and carry on driving until you return to park mode or maybe turn off. This is sensible - if the key battery went flat while driving you wouldn't want it to stop the car immediately.

Was all ready to try the app to melt the snow today.... but no, I'm still at 5% so computer said no (although it works from in the car)

Note to self.... go and charge it!

Quite happy to share the hot days, or even swap a few if you like ..... how do you reckon you'd go wih a week of 40°C plus and over night mins in the mid to high 20s .... you wouldn't need to pre-heat the car to have a warm ride to work ;) Forget the steering wheel heater, something that would cool it enough not to take a layer of skin off when you first touch it would be fine, the seats can get the legs if you were wearing shorts as well ....

Window reflective blankets over the outside for the warmer days, inside for the colder days, the reflection soon warms the window, great in winter, yet another source of heat in the summer, that is the reason for swapping from inside to outside is dependent on the weather conditions ..... the reflective blanket can be a real bugga to get off when it's frozen to the glass :ROFLMAO:

Arghhhhh, starting to hate EVs and winter. Took it to charge today and couldn't get the flap open as I guess it's frozen, fail, down to 4%

I can imagine how easily the flap can freeze shut, maybe next time you should make sure it's defrosted and opens before driving off to the charge point. Lesson learned methinks. 😁
