Maybe carry a thermos flask of warm water too just in case, to pour around the flap area ?
Arghhhhh, starting to hate EVs and winter. Took it to charge today and couldn't get the flap open as I guess it's frozen, fail, down to 4%

............Two large sink bowls of warm water were not opening my frozen flap last night.
Defo learnt this oneI can imagine how easily the flap can freeze shut, maybe next time you should make sure it's defrosted and opens before driving off to the charge point. Lesson learned methinks.![]()
Nope.Oh no, that's my idea blown out the water !! Did the 3rd trip do the trick ?![]()
I think it's the lock mechanism that freezes not the seal to the flap.
Forgot to say, it's mid way between SW updates - dealer had it all day last week and it still wanted more updates to be done, so due in in December for two days to get them finished up. Then they can look at the other niggles. Had an electric Mokka as a replacement - OK inside, but surprisingly low mileage on a full 'tank' and a bit slow.I tried the remote heating this morning. Seemed to work, nicely defrosted after a couple of minutes, but when I got in the car to drive away it would not turn on. I had to exit the car, lock it, turn off the HVAC using the app, then unlock the car and get in and all was fine. Cannot remember if I pressed the brake pedal. Any thoughts?
You need to press the brake pedal to cancel the remote HVAC. (I did this very thing this morning).I tried the remote heating this morning. Ta! I cannot remember if I tried that, but will give it a go tomorrow. You need to press the brake pedal to cancel the remote HVAC. (I did this very thing this morning).
Whilst I have an SE SR I can't see the operation of HVAC being any different in the X-Power.
I've finally got connected to the app today, after having to contact MG to get it unbound from its previous owner.I would have simply used the app to remote defrost (with the car locked)![]()
Yes I discovered this yesterday, brilliant, I love my EVThe BIG advantage of an EV is virtually instant heat - no waiting for the engine to warm up!
Much faster than an ICE car.
No - it comes on at whatever temperature you set in the app, and possibly full blast. I only use it to defrost the car in cold weather (so set the temperature to HI), or to cool the car in hot weather (although I've not experienced such not-enough conditions yet to warrant doing this).I've finally got connected to the app today, after having to contact MG to get it unbound from it's previous owner.
So when you turn on the HVAC using the app, does it just come on exactly as you left it when you powered the car down?
Thanks, I see now, I didn't see the options in the app when I looked earlier, and I also see the heated seat/s can be turned on.No - it comes on at whatever temperature you set in the app, and possibly full blast.
