The latest news is that the EU is imposing punitive tariffs of over 35% on SAIC / MG. This catapults the expected price of the Cyberster to over 80,000.00 euros in Germany.
Is this price still justified for this vehicle? Or will the car then become unaffordable for many? What do you think?
Greetings Stefan

Too expensive. And out of the price range of people, who otherwise might, have got one. All because of the greedy, bastards in the EU. 😡🤬

It's not just about affordability, it's about value for money. There's just no way most people are going to pay Porsche EV money for an MG, especially as longevity isn't known. The rest of the MG range are starting to rust up underneath quite a lot as they get beyond 4 or so years old, this absolutely isn't acceptable when you get to the Cyberster price range, even at UK pricing! Time will tell if it's better, but the likes of Porches don't rust for decades when the bodywork is at least minimally looked after.

It's not greed, it's terror, that the EU car industry will go the way of British Leyland if the Chinese get a significant foothold. We've almost nothing left to lose anymore over here, just a couple of Japanese satellite plants!

In that case they'll be giving all the extra Tarrif money raised. To good causes, will
they? 🤔

Austria have it cheaper from 54590 € to 62590 €. For example in Finland price is from 66750€ to 72500 €

We changed our order (other color combo), and now have to wait 4 months. We were at a test event last weekend, and the person responsible for Belgium assured me the price will not be affected by the import taxes. If I'm not mistaken, he said something like "MG will not raise the prices to give this car a chance on the market". So I would think that means that prices will remain unchanged for now, at least for the Cyberster.

Exactly right. You only have to look at the state of Germany right now and VW, it’s very very serious for them, but also Porsche, BMW, Audi. They will be eliminated from the Chinese market completely. MG is doing great, new and refreshed models on the way including rumoured semi solid state battery tech. Other brands like BYD & Zeekr will finish off the legacy car industry. They reacted too late, even if you invested 200BN now and built out the supply chain, they are toast. Models such as the great looking Renault 5 EV and sub 30K models will do ok, but Chinese imports will still be cheaper / better with high tariffs.

Also SAIC have their own ships. No middle men.

Could EU customers order a LHD one from the UK and import it to the EU as a used vehicle?... Just like we did importing Golf GTI's and the like from Belgium in the 1980's? Or is that not a thing anymore since Brexit?

import duties of 10% and 21% VAT.. A decade ago, we bought LHD BMW's via International sales in UK. A full option 435d was almost 20k cheaper that way...
