Just picked up my new ZS Hybrid + from Falkirk yesterday morning. First brand new car I’ve ever bought so I’m over the moon with it. The only think I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t run on EV mode as much as I expected. Is this normal? Thanks

Congratulations on getting the new ZS Hybrid @gerrydoorstop.

Unfortunately, not running in EV mode at this time of the year is normal, this is due to a cold battery, which is less efficient when cold, and you're also demanding more electrical power to run things like lights, heater, wipers etc, and while some of the power for these will come from the 12 volt battery, the extra charging means that the petrol engine will be running far more than you'd like. Wait until the warmer months arrive next year mate, you'll find it a different car.

Thanks for that info Clive👍

Best of luck with your new ZS. What is it like to drive?

You’re not paranoid, I’ve had mine 2 weeks and as others have said at this time of year this will happen. Stop worrying, enjoy.
This car is complicated. Lots of trying to work out how to do things. My current task is trying to dim the Apple Carplay navigation screen, at night.
I’ve tried right top of touch screen, pull down, and choose dimmest every thing. But it’s still way too bright. I’ve discovered that the spoken directions continue, so no map, but you still know when to turn right/left.
Cheers Noel.

Hi Declan. Lovely car to drive although I’ve been out in it today for an hour or so and the EV mode never came on at all. The rev counter also seems to be sticking on 1.3 rpm! Maybe I’m just paranoid🤔!
Glad to hear that you are enjoying the ZS. They look really practical and look good too. As Noel says, you are not being paranoid. The car will run more on hev during this cold spell, but when the weather warms up and the engine and system beds in, you will see the ev system kick in a lot more.

Hi Noel, I'm not sure if the infotainment system is exactly the same as the MG 3 hybrid, but this is where you find the brightness settings on the 3. You can also link the brightness of the instrument cluster to the main screen.

Hi Declan. Thanks. When the permafrost clears I will check that out.
My main problem is, that although there is a manual on the iSmart App, and a larger version on the mg.co.uk website they are sadly lacking. It’s almost as if the translator had no knowledge of the material he was translating, and just translates word for word.
For example on page 185, (of 360!) it says “depress the brake pedal to a certain depth”. Decipher that, if you will.
The manual, in the main, tells you that the car has ‘features’, but doesn’t inform how to use them, and trying to get something to work when driving on dark windy roads is not safe🤨. As I experienced last night
I have an appointment this afternoon at the dealership, and so far have a list of 14 questions.

It's the same issue with the MG3 hybrid, the manual is more like a list on contents, and lacks detail.
