EV opposition in the media is ramping up

So that's the MacMaster …. I see he has a panel telling viewers what will happen if they leave disparaging comments. I guess that means he's already lost the discussion!

I didn't see that as I only listened to it within the forum. He used to be OK about people posting contrary viewpoints.

I'm not signed up for theTelegraph, but I'm guessing it's the same story of some idiot who bought an inefficient EV and charged it at the most expensive chargers he could find without charging overnight at home.

The article opened for me. It's a tale of broken Gridserves (I had some of that last Friday too) and someone who isn't experienced enough about estimating his real range. And obviously if you've been booting a Mach-E on the motorway in cold weather, using motorway service station chargers, it's not going to be as cheap as your routine cost per mile on a Honda Civic. Plus the obligatory "they're not as green as they're made out to be and a Toyota hybrid is just as environmentally friendly."

The comments are a laugh a minute.

Threads like this give him the Oxygen of publicity he obviously thrives on. Ever thought of ignoring him?
That man is the biggest Ass on YouTube and there are some strange ones on there. Mind you if I’d been dim enough to lease a car that costs what his does to run, paid a huge amount to extend the warranty within the lease! has to drive more than his range permits to get to his dealer, loses what his has (£70k drop over the contract???) I’d be up in arms. I think he’s shouting out loud to generate clicks to recover something. The very worst. The ICEtrolls must love him.
As you can tell I’ve maybe watched too many of his diatribes, needless to say unsubscribed and blood pressure recovering nicely 😉

On a positive note though - I find EVMan utterly watchable, great at explaining topics and an all round good old boy 👍

The main reason I didn't buy a Tesla was because of Musk. Totally untrustworthy. He started to show his true colours when he bought Twitter and started to allow his version of "free speech", where any conspiracy theorist looney could spout any old tosh and hatred.

A shame really, because they are good cars.

Would yours have come with a free Musk in the passenger seat, my S-I-L's didn't. 😂

Tesla being owned by Musk would be a draw to getting one.

From the perspective of many people he improved Twitter. Lots of accounts who had been permabanned for such crimes as stating that there are only two sexes were reinstated and women in particular no longer have to self-censor to avoid a ban. If you don't like conspiracy theorist loonies you don't have to follow them.

But mainly, I thought this was funny.

Surely the whole point of free speech is that conspiracy theorist loonies can spout any old tosh and hatred, but nobody is forced to listen to them and their nonsense can be challenged out in the open.

Driving speech underground by banning it has never worked out well in the long run.

Not buying a car because of the company owner is strange to me. The communist party of China is part owner of all of the Chinese EV companies but it didn't stop me buying one of their products.

Playing that game consistently means stopping buying most modern technology.

Good luck with that. Anything and everything you buy will have someting inside it made in China.

Elon Musk has constantly demonstrated his instability by swapping features in the car's sortware on a whim, whether the owners wanted him to or not. One example is when he decided to disable rapid charging on Teslas which had not been repaired by a Tesla garage (I think it was Rich's Rebuilds on YouTube).

I know other manufacturers update software, but they tend to do it in a responsible fashion.

I have nothing against free speech, I have a problem with extremists who use it to radicalize the vunerable and those who use it to incite violence. The recent riots against asylum seekers was caused by free speech on social media ( a bit of a misnomer if you ask me).
