Hey All,
Its been about a month of owning a 2023 Xpower and I wanted to share my input so far on real world range in Australian conditions. Recently I went on a 900km round trip from Perth to Albany in Western Australia (450km each way).
Temp was around 17 degrees C, minimal wind, fan on 3 (no ac) and drive mode mostly normal with occasional overtake.
This is mostly a 110km/h stretch of up and down roads, with 2 potential fast changing locations on the way, Williams (200km) and Kojonup (300km). Initially I was hoping to get 300km on my first leg with 97% battery but soon realised this could be a stretch.
Driving through the city was fine, averaging approx 15kWh/100km which is normal for me (which technically you would think means you could get 400km from 60kWh battery but I found you need around 14kWh/100km to achieve that which equates to approx 54kWh???)
I soon realised once going 110km/h on the open road up hills etc without anyone in front that 300km is not achievable, economy went to an average of 23-24kWh/100km. If I dropped down to 100km/h and slipstreamed a car/truck this could go down from anywhere between 20-22kWh/100km.
Anyways long story short, if you are planning an open road trip, I would calculate you have at worse case maximum range of 225km before charging stops, this is factoring 90% battery (100%-10% to be safe).
This is based on worse case 25kWh/100km which is essentially 25km per 10%.
Yes sure in Eco mode with energy saving and driving 100km/h slipstreaming someone you could achieve 30km per 10% but I was amazed the difference going 110km/h on and open road compared to 100km/h on a flat freeway made (approx 16-18kWh/100km).
The upside is that you should really rest every 2 hours anyway which is approx 200km and I was amazed at the quick charging speed achieved on a chargefox station, at around 20%-60% charge I was seeing around 130kW then it tapered down to around 70kW, by the time I stopped at the toilet or had lunch, 20min approx to go from 20% to 80% or 40min 10%-100%).
My Stats for (%100 to 0%) normal mode so far:
- Combined/City driving average: 15kWh/100km approx (360km range)
- Motorway 100kmh approx 17kWh/100km (320km range)
- Open road 110km/h 24kWh/100km (250km range)
Hope this helps others get an idea of real world range for the Xpower and curious to see other drivers input, cheers.
