Hi all
Please have a look at my content, I asked my insurer if my insurance is valid, MG4 with faulty LKA.
I am not anti EV, far from it , we like the MG4 and I want to keep it, yes I've had a lot of issues and I'm documenting my experience truthfully.
Let me know if you have similar experiences to me.
Regards Neil

The car needs to be insured correctly as I couldn't afford to replace it , I checked with them after a family member had a similar issue with a VW, the car was taken off the road and replaced till fixed, it was a mobility car
Nothing to do with hits just following the laws and legislation in place

Firstly, the LKA is a driver aid, and switchable off, if its faulty and you know this but still rely on it then you bear quite a lot of the responsibility should anything happen. If its faulty and MG refuse to replace it , you would need a third party specialist inspection report ( costly ) to verify your case and even then I would imagine the insurance company would not be that interested but thank you for the now self certificated , on file, evidence you have give them. If LKA was a legally non negotiable ( cannot turn it off ) fitting where the manufacturer under law have to make it foolproof and accurate and most likely disable the car if faulty. ( never going to happen ) then you might have a case. Secondly, you have a gripe with MG , understandable, but the headline banner in your YT video would apply to most modern cars regardless of make/model. Sorry!

Not sure I have any sympathy for someone driving around in mist like that and not holding the steering wheel normally - just two thumbs tucked over the lower rim for much of the time and one handed driving for the rest - and saying "f***ing this or that" every 3rd sentence. How sad.

Some cars with not perfect LKA

VW ID 3 - Lane Assist is downright dangerous
Skoda Kamiq - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/486388-lane-assist-is-dangerous/
BMW 5 Series - Lane assist has started to behave erratically
Jaguar iPace - Random lane assist occurences - anyone else had this?
Jaguar F-Pace - Lane keep assist nearly caused me to crash
Dacia Jogger - Lane Keep Assist issues

There are many safety systems and options on a car that the driver can choose to use but in all cases it is ultimately the driver who is controlling the car and all the disclaimers in the owner manual say this...

I can understand you have paid for a feature in the car and it is not perfect and sometimes not safe but this is not unique to the MG4 or MG. If you are able to win a legal case that puts any fault with MG this would open the floodgates for every owner with any similar issue on any car to make a claim and I suspect this would not happen.

Just found this video of a Hyundai doing something similar to the OP video

I get that you are unhappy with your X power from the start of your ownership, as people will tell you I am no fan of the MG 4 myself and have been very critical of it for a variety of reasons but at no point has MG marketed these systems as any form of autonomous driving capability. The manual pic above confirms that.

Insurance companies will looks for excuses not to pay out if they can but trying to prove where a lka system works or not on a particular car would not be one of the things they do.
Pretending its a version of Tesla's systems and not having proper control of your car is on you and will invalidate it, especially if there are witnesses that could speak to that.

AS I said I get that your not happy with your car and the fact your attempt to reject it failed but your video does you no favours

This says it all really. (y)
The problem is the "immediately turn off" action - that can't be done easily and safely when driving; even the latest update to add the toggle to the pulldown menu still needs the driver to take their eyes off the road.

... though the OP seems very capable of multi-tasking when driving - he's pressing buttons on the console, looking down, moving off without any hands on the wheel, fiddling with a bottle of baby-milk (or whatever it was) and turning 180 degrees to talk to the camera in the back whilst driving ;) ;)

And also that a tight grip on the wheel isn't sufficient to prevent the car jerking when the LKA kicks in. I strongly suspect that the disclaimer in the manual wouldn't stand up in court should the LKA be found to have contributed to an accident. Things don't necessarily become true when you write them down.

Enough to drop himself in it for undue care and attention then?
Not seen the video myself.

Edit Just watched a bit, he was taking both hands off wheel, tut tut, hope insurer does not see this video.

Few points of the video you missed , dealer and MG said the update fixed the car when it made it worse, wife did have accident at lower speed without cruise due to random steering episode, I personally want to keep the car, the drive shaft vibrations will be fixed regardless of MGs ever changing view. There's no need for the lies and deceit so yes I do have issue with the service.

For me the big problem with the LKA is the movement of the steering wheel, I don't mind a gentle reminder vibration (KIA rental car I had and the Cupra Born I test drove), but the wheel moving is an unnatural thing to happen when driving. In fact the only time it has happened to me in previous cars is when I have hit an unseen pot hole at speed, my natural reaction is to actively counter steer against it if I forget to turn the system off.

It's not a gentle reminder, since they supposedly fixed it , it's an aggressive constant left, right sometimes uncontrollable, take your hands of the wheel it seems to steer ok itself, a basic requirement for a car at this money is cruise that works, I will have to play with the settings.
There's other issues (drive shaft vibration) explained in other content
