Just wondering how XP owners have found driving their cars in the snow this weekend ?

I've not had to go out yet but our local road is covered in a fair few inches and cars have been sliding around a bit !

IIRC the AWD only works in forward gear.

Haven't had much snow over this side either, could be the 40°C plus days and 26°C plus nights .... but the hot water coming out of the cold tap makes it difficult to get a cool drink, so I had to prop myself up at the bar so I could cool down a bit .... they sort of had snow around the beer taps .....

Drove mine in the Snow yesterday, the main roads weren't too bad. But the side roads were quite bad. Put it in Snow mode, and no problems to be honest. But obviously drove according to the conditions. Which sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised (or not) how many don't. 🙂👍

I'm not sure Snow mode even engages 4WD (although it would be an obvious thing to do with the XP) ... I think it only sets Eco power mode and Regen 1.

Interesting, but I'm presuming it does. Certainly felt like it yesterday. 🙂👍

You tell us ... switch the Infotainment to the Battery tile and look at the power flow to the motors in Snow mode. ;)

That's far to complicated for me. 🤪 Like I say, it felt ok, no spinning anywhere, so I'm presuming it was in 4WD. So that will do for me. 🙂👍

A few weeks ago in the snow I was quickly reminded there is no AWD in reverse when trying to get out of my driveway.
I don't think snow mode uses AWD all the time, but it does feel like it engages it quicker to help with loss of traction compared to normal.
When going slowly up a twisty hill that had not seen a gritter, the backend kept sliding but the car quickly corrected its self without any intervention.

Yes, IIRC someone got a bit slippy slidy on a muddy field in reverse when they were expecting the AWD to kick in 😁🫣. It's always the stopping on a slippy downhill slope that I find tricky in two pedal automatic/DSG cars (ICE and EV's).

Just don't m8!!!
(Unless you absolutely have too)

Too many other muppets whizzing about with zero idea of how to drive in the conditions!

Unless of course you have All Season/Winter tyres, you will just be risking an accident IMO.

(Slush will be fine but still risks *muplitube)

My car was hopeless just trying to get up the slight incline away from my house, but to be expected really as its wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 5s.

Snow mode does engage all 4 wheels permanently, but only going forwards as you have stated.

Went out around Gladhouse reservoir yesterday. All B roads and about 2-3" of snow, car didn't mind.

Only difficulty was turning around outside the house, rwd only in reverse meant a bit of rocking back and forth to find enough grip.

Did feel the occasional tyre slip, but the other wheels pulled it into line. Hard pressed to overdo the power in snow mode it's so gentle.

I went out in the snow yesterday and was mightily impressed with the X Power. No issues whatsoever. I did try setting off from standstill in normal mode for fun and you could definitely tell the difference of snow mode. Barely moved in normal, straight into snow and off I went.

Took the MR2 to work today for a total contrast but given it's mid engine, rear wheel drive layout, it copes admirably well. Until you come to a stop on an incline but as long as you're sensible it's all good. Having said that it took 2.5hrs to do a 45min commute to work this morning. Largely thanks to two vans, a lorry and a coach being stuck on the same road.

I'm not expecting to use Snow Mode anytime soon, either.😁

Could be handy in loose sand, not that I go there much anymore.
Or getting off a dew soaked lawn up hill .... well, unless you wanted to reverse up, then it appears all bets are off ......

Note to self:
Reverse down a lawn covered hill if you think the grass might be wet in the morning ..... but then, I don't really do mornings much any more, so .......yeah-nah, only so many things you can remember after having to cool off propped up at the bar on a regular basis ;)

We traded in a Skoda Enyaq for the XPower because we got stuck near home on a steep incline that we can't avoid. We decided we needed a 4x4 but wanted to stay 100% electric. The XPower performed admirably in the deep snow even starting on a slope. The problem we had was with the clearance underneath which wasn't enough for the height of snow we had. We've damaged the underside protection (plastic or carbon fibre) whilst trying to get out so need to book it in to assess the damage :-(

As you have only just joined the forums you're probably not aware of the warped undertray fault mentioned above. Use the search forums link at the top of the page to find the threads about it.

In short, if you can persuade the garage this problem was the cause, you should get it fixed under warranty. There is now a warranty fix for the issue if you just have the warping and no damage yet (a strengthening bar on the leading edge of the rear tray). At the very least try and get the fix applied to any replacement tray that's fitted if required. All being well I'm having the fix fitted tomorrow.
