MG i SMART app remote control instruction failed please try again later

Hi all. Does anyone have any other hints with this issue or am I simply at the mercy of SAICs flaky servers?

Mine has been pretty solid for the last two weeks (barring a few refresh needs) but this afternoon it won't connect at all no matter what I do with the car or app.

FWIW I'm getting the same Remote control instruction failed message today. The past few days it has been fine. ?‍♂️

We are soon due to leave it untouched for four weeks, so I would like to be sure to be able to check-in just once in a while if possible, and at present, this is a concern

I made a number of comments about this issue on the earlier page, but just as an update, we are now halfway through our latest trip abroad, and - entirely to form and as anticipated - the car is completely incommunicado from abroad ... presumably snoozing away and rendering the whole point of the app totally useless.

Incidentally, and as also remarked on previously, its behaviour has not changed in the past couple of months, with the app failing totally to communicate with the car whenever left unlocked (physically) for more than a day or two. The only solution is to open and close it manually then try again. That always works for me ... but is a pathetic answer.

I was so happy with my newly activated iSmart app, and it lasted less than a week. I've been getting the dreaded "Remote control instruction failed please try again later" for the last 3 days.

Even with Wifi, car close by, locked, unlocked, cleared app cache, ran around the car three times in my underwear, no luck.

Sorry, it says in the manual "10 times fully naked" 😉
Will do it during full moon just to be safe too!

I've gotten into the habit of always tapping "Status" first (the shield icon).
That seems to wake the car more often than not.
For me status seems to be showing the same data it had the time it stopped working

What date/time does the last updated field show on the top of the MG page, after the status refresh?

You may need to clear the storage as well as the cache and that will entail a login afterwards.

Jan 18th at 6 pm... Doing storage clear now... hang tight.

EDIT:
No luck, and now it clearly says the car is "Offline" oh well. I'm sure the SIM card is active and has credit.

Sorry if this has already been added but for me the car has to be locked. I then start the app, wait for the spinning refresh wheel (top left) to finish and then go to the status page and let that scan. Once that works, everything connects just fine. If it doesn't, I refresh and normally that sorts it.

If that doesn't work I re-start the app and then if I am still stuck I close the app, get to within BT distance and try again.

If that doesn't work I unlock, lock and do the BT connection again...

Apart from when there seem to be centralised issues, that has worked like a charm.

Unbound the car, deleted the app, reinstalled, bound again, no dice. Even close to the car, it won't pickup. I'm thinking about trying to change the SIM card in the tbox, but was not able to remove the glove box... afraid of braking something. (It was really easy in my Forester) Will see if there's a procedure in the garage manual.

EDIT
Found the procedure, I was doing it correctly, will need to use little bit of more force on the stoppers it seems like.

Does your car have a physical Sim card? I'm sure UK cars have an eSim and so not removable.
Yes, that's what the dealer told me when they did the procedure, even gave me the phone number that I need to use to make sure data credit is loaded on it regularly. I even had the punched out card where the SIM came in.
