MG3 Hybrid+ Trophy
Its no wonder the main MG dealership (Ancaster) refused to give me the price of servicing before purchasing my car. The 3 year plan is £1174.30 the 4th year service is over £1100. Which basically means the car is worth nothing after 3.5 years. I am sure if you try to claim on the 7 year warranty, they will not repair the car they will just offer you scrap value.

Are MG car owners required to have the service completed by an MG dealer? The warranty requires that scheduled services are completed . As there is no service log book, how do we prove that a service has been completed?

Keep the reciept and service record from who does it. You are not required to get service done at dealer.
"The regulation was introduced by the European Union in 2003 to promote competition and stop car makers from barring independent garages from servicing new cars."

Good Morning

I have had my MG3 Trophy for approximately 2 months and am totally satified with my purchase, it is quite simply the best car that I have owned and I have had quite a few in the 52 years since passing my driving test.

I took out the MG 5 year serice plan at 15000 miles per year. Whilst I agree the 4year/60000 mile service @ £981.83p is expensive, it is justified by my dealership because all of the traction batteries are physically removed, cleaned, individually tested and replaced if falling below normal levels. Apparently this is an involved task invlolving many hours of labour.

It was a win-win for me because it is paid in interest free monthly installments, the service cost is fixed at todays prices, should you sell the vehicle you can reclaim unused money with no admin charge. On the point of unused money there can be no dispute as to what has been spent as each service is indivdually listed at the fixed price.

The entire plan including 2 mot's cost £2463.93, when this is added to the almost give away price of the vehicle, it still undercuts maminstream rivals and represents excellent value in my opinion.

Whoa! My plan for the five years and two MOT's is a total of £1619.49 circa 10,000m p.a. The 4th year service is £305.99 the 5th year is £256.16. Your prices seems overly expensive??

Yes you're right the service plan costs are published on the MG website, after you request a quote, do you mind sharing your dealership as I may cancel my plan and take one out with them.

The dealership is Spirit MG in Corby. I'm not sure it would be a viable solution as Corby is a long way from Cornwall if you'd need to take your car to them for service. I would have thought all dealers use the same MG pricing system?

You can as said go where you like for servicing, but ensure whomever uses genuine MG parts or you may have issues with any warranty claims.

We will be getting rid well before the 4th service I think, we will be PXing for a used pre 2024 vehicle to avoid the compulsory nanny software, what this POS is worth in PX is a very big unknown.

My service package is £29 a month for my Trophy and that includes AA cover. That lasts for 3 years
