I find it doesn't recognise the signs it just knows the speed limit according to the on board sat nav. Trouble is as they often change the nav will indicate wrong speed limit. Mine is a MG5 Trophy.Took delivery this week and so far delighted but finding out the quirks.
The speed limit sign recognition system mostly works but is not so good on country lanes with trees/branches in the way.
However whilst it picks up 30, 40, 50, 60 and derestricted signs it has so far failed to recognise 20 sign despite passing a lot of very clear ones.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Back to the dealers then as that obviously is not right.Mine will not even turn on for more than a second,
When starting, it goes green and then say “fault with speed limit intelligent assist -
Consult handbook” -
Ironically I can’t see any mention of it in the handbook.
1 week old, 200 miles on the clock l, 2023 facelift mg5 LR trophy.
I’ve seen no evidence that there is any live traffic functionality either.
You do realise that the speed limit indicator is fed from the passive radar on the car not from the sat nav feedI get that too, usually (possibly always) when Google Maps shows no speed limit listed for the section of the road that I am on. I'm unsure whether this is that it thinks that I'm not on the road due to GPS issues or whether the section of the road genuinely doesn't have a speed limit recorded.
Next time it happens I'll check on OpenStreetMap to see what the listed speed limit is.
With everything MG there is always the possibility that the 12V battery is failing and causing odd problems.Anyone have any ideas as to why my speed recognition keeps saying system failure, the speed recognition works initially and after about 5 mins it comes up with system failure this also affects auto light recognition
I have a fl Mg5 that doesn't recognise 20 mph speed limit signs. Had it in for service last week and had an MG3 courtesy car for the day. It read every speed limit sign including 20mph accurately so it can be doneMine picks up 20 signs OK - can't say the same for older style motorway gantry signs though.
My cousin has a VW that slams on the brakes along a section of the 70mph Thanet Way because a parallel road has a 40mph sign that is in view.MG4 Trophy, camera picks up 20's with irritating inaccuracy (as in, road I'm driving on is a standard 30, SIDE roads have 20 markers, can picks up these as they are visible from the driven road, then moans when I maintain the correct speed for the road. Worse example is one of our local dual carriageways manages to pick up a 40 limit on a parallel road, so unable to use speed limiter, as 40 on a dual carriageway is not a safe speed... Can live with 20 in a 30, but... well, it's just not accurate enough to rely on.
