Which ODBII dongle for ABRP?
I have a collections of dongles that worked to a degree with my previous ICE cars.
I have a couple from Ali express ELM 327 clones
that work to a degree and show battery SOC in the Torque apps, but doesn't in ABRP. I have another in ABRP.

Is there one dongle that works with everything Torque and ABRP and can you provide a link and your experiences

Hi there,

I bought the Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) OBD2 as it was one of the devices that Iternio listed as having reports of reliable connections for direct connection to ABRP. I had a different OBD2 connected via Torque Pro. When received the Vgate I tested it with Torque Pro and worked perfectly, I tested it with ABRP and has worked flawlessly since January 2024.

You can get the Vgate OBD from amazon:

I have the blue one like in your AliExpress page that I paid about £3 or so - works well with "Car Scanner" app but not really with "eZS" app - keeps getting stuck on connection to the app, only two or three times managed to get into eZS app.

Try them all until you find the best app and dongle combination ...

Thanks, That looks much cheaper on Amazon UK, I might try it.

I have that blue one as well, eZS will sometimes say "Connected" but it seems to get stuck at 33% when trying to read out anything.

Worked perfectly with car scanner on multiple cars i have owned previously

Just found a guy selling one for £20, think i am going to try and buy that one.

That works with apps that my others didn't and was detected by ABRP

of the apps I tried, none show battery SOH (State of Health). At the service place when the technician checked it he showed me 100% and other stats. He used
That looks expensive, but gave a near complete view of the vehicle.

I have cheap £3 blue ODB2 dongle from AliExpress, like the one posted above, it works perfectly well with free version of Car Scanner and it shows SoH and loads of other details that I don't even know what to do with ...

The Vgate Winlink is working ith ABRP nicely. I've had some problems with other ODB / apps.

I've tried three on my gen 2 trophy SR zs ev & none of them work, I had no trouble at all with my gen 1 zs ev, they just worked straight off the bat with the paid Cars canner version. I've been told that it's a problem with PID files, apparently.

I've only recently looked into it, but it goes over my head & the YT video about adding PID files isn't very clear to me.

Be aware if you want to run the app with Android Auto or Apple Carplay it will cost 5€ a month. A link to the ones listed by ABRP developer:-
