Hi all

My car has been in the dealer because of the below faults, the car was recovered by the AA and got to the MG dealer with no faults what so ever, they could start the car and run the car fine. Looking at this it tells me there are faults and now I cannot move the car, I've left the car to fully charge on a 7KWH charger and these errors have now come up when it reached full charge. Has anyone had any experience with this? The dealer said the car has no issues as the errors were gone when it reached the dealer. I don't have a clue what to do as they couldn't diagnose anything with the vehicle, they ever charged it to 100% with the MG pod point charger at MG and the technician took the car home to test the mileage.

MG have confirmed my car is fully updated with the latest BMS, I have tried multiple balance charges with no success of having the voltage of the battery improve any....
in the mean time I'm contact the finance provider to try get a break in the finance agreement as I'm sick and tired of this.

Any ideas.... I've run out and sick and tired of the car now???

Do these errors come up because the 12V battery voltage is too low 4 bars? I think it should be at 6 bars.

Which bars? The voltage is showing 428V the usual voltage is 449 but my car doesn't accept equalising charges for some odd reason hence the low voltage

You can see the 12V battery voltage on the left dial, it should show 6 bars.
I see what you mean, how can I get this back to 12V? The car won't charge any more on the granny charger or 7KW charger?

Look at this video, Bjorn Nyland was testing the MG and he had the same problem, you can start seeing the video at 15:30 min.

Edit: he disconnected the 12V battery for one minute, at the end of the video he explains this 12V battery fault.

I’m not sure if you know this….You need to have the car in ready mode. You haven’t done that in the pics. Foot on brake and press start - wait for ready to show. This will engage the HV battery and charge the 12v battery. this is how you should always have the car when started up. Your messages should disappear. You need to fully charge and equalise the battery pack before checking your HV voltage with everything switched off except the display. Your predicted range and voltage looks ok as you’re not fully charged on the pics.

I appreciate that, but still think I'm missing something, when I go to ready mode then after foot on brake and press start while I wait for ready to show all the error messages come back on each time. The car doesn't allow me to charge the car any more and won't connect to my charge point or granny cable, as I need it to equalise to get the HV voltage back up, am I missing something else there?

Can you do a short video of the start up and error messages? is your 12v back up to c14v now? you say won’t connect to your charger - do you mean will connect but won’t charge? Make sure your 12v is fully charged, switch The car off and wait a couple of minutes - don’t lock it. Plug in your charger. Lock the car and wait for a while to see if it starts charging. Apologies if you’ve tried all this and I’m not trying to be condescending- i know how frustrating it can be.

attached a video in a zip folder, that's the starting process with the foot on the brake, plus all errors showing

It’s not going into ready mode. The ready word should show under the display.

Are you keeping your foot on the brake?
Yes, I let the switch go into amber then I push the brake down and hold and press start again for it to try go to ready mode hoping it'll run, I thought the errors were preventing me from going in running mode?

The errors are normally shown when the 12v is low and the HV is not engaged. Start from the beginning. Switch off completely - lock your car. Wait a minute - unlock - get in with key with you - foot on footbrake - keep it there - press start button and release - keep foot on brake - should boot to ready. No need to multiple press start button.

Apply foot pressure to the brake pedal first, then hit the start button.
Keep the pressure applied to the pedal until you get the green ready sign and chime.
As the car boots up, you should feel the brake pedal slightly sink.

If this does not resolve the issue, you could try disconnecting the negative terminal of the 12 volt battery, under the bonnet and leave it disconnected for about 15 minutes.
Then reconnect the terminal and run through the process of starting again.
P.S. - You will need a 10mm spanner ? in order to disconnect the 12 volt battery.
Good luck !.

Why not call the AA using the MG supplied contract that comes with the ZS? That way they can see the fault and the ownership of sorting it is then refered back to the dealer.

best of luck!

Just an update, none of it worked, contacted the dealer again and sending all images to them as they spotted nothing, they will now contact MG and open a ticket. I will admit this is really embarrassing getting a brand new car recovered 2 days running, but hopefully it'll get sorted out

I have a choice of a courtesy through the AA but I want MG to supply one longer then 3 days, it's an utter joke, thanks for everyone to helping to get this resolved, don't really get much from the dealers/MG UK
