ok thanks, will just have to take their word then
No, don't take their word. It clearly hasn't been updated properly

Send them this link and say you want all the updates that are available to dealers. The 2023/2024 ones definitely are

Go to a better dealer next time when the 2025 updates are released

Thanks for this link, I will email them to see what they say.

My car (June 23 build) is on Infotainment version R04 & everything works fine as far as I am concerned. There is an OTA update now available for the Satnav system that can program in chargers when creating a trip but I am not bothered about this anyway as 1. I don't go in many long trips and 2. I use plugshare to find chargers. iSmart can also find all the chargers as well.

OTA update? I thought these cars did not have this feature.

Finally got the trailer home from the Pickles auction yard, tried the MG4 on it ..... doesn't fit .... too wide and too long o_O Check the specs provided by Pickles on the listing, the listed width is to the outside of the rails, not the inside where they go over the guards, the length includes the granny mobility scooter enclosure in front of the tilting trailer part ...... and now I find out there is no EV charging at the Every Thing Electric Show in Syd and no fast chargers near where we will be staying or the Syd showground. I am thinking the Prius might be going anyway .... it fits on the trailer

On that... Whilst not DC Fast Chargers the ICC Exhibition Centre car park has 10 dual 7kW chargers (20 plugs in all) "free" for use while parking.
So whilst the parking charge might be exorbitant, you do get some free electrons with that :)

[ Update ] Oops! I thought the Everything Electric show was on at the ICC... I see it's not but out at Olympic Park. Damn! :(

I told a furphy. It is not available yet but they are working on it for Infotainment updates only. (See Neeravs link above). If you go to the system menu and select infotainment update it will ask for a password but none work. The system has been created to allow it but at this stage it isn't.

I understand that OTA was available in Thailand but there were issues so it was stopped. They may have it operating in China though I have no information on that.

Once 5G is common place large files will be quickly downloaded but the way it seems to work at present is that a constant connection with a local PC running the programs is required. This should easily be able to be modified to allow an OTA update as happens with computers and phones (& other car brands) everywhere.

Ok got the car home from Toowoomba to Brisbane this morning approx 1hr 30mns - 120kms. Car drove beautifully and it was a pleasure to drive (similar to my 2019 28kWh Ioniq :) )
Used 13.5 kWh / 100; it was low because there was a long downhill stretch from Toowoomba ranges however strong easterly breeze (headwind).

But what has really got to me is how fast tech is improving and cost is coming down. 2 months shy 5 years to the day I got the 28 kWh battery Ioniq home, it was a demo and I paid $38,000 it had 1910kms on the clock.

I picked this car up with a 77 kwh battery with 1709 kms on the odo for $39,000. Nearly double capacity of battery for around the same price !

Given that the MG4 was released in Australia in August 2023, the first scheduled service for the first on the road would be August this Year. Mine will be due on 14th of September.

LKA mods will be welcome but I have learned to live with what I've got & I drive more accurately on 110 kmh highways. The benefits look like they will be felt on lesser single lane each way highways & mostly I don't use ACC on these roads but LKA is still on so this will be a positive move. The UK correspondent thinks so anyway.

The Satnav improvements for route planning will be good. This was promised by October 2023 when I purchased my car but took another year to come to fruition. Interestingly iSmart lists all the new chargers so if you are in a bind & can't use Android Auto or Apple Carplay you can find all the nearest chargers that way.

The MG4 is capable of OTA updates but as they chose to run with a Vodafone SIM presumably with limits so they will not invoke this. It is available in China & I believe at one stage was in Thailand but due to network issues it was scrapped there.

I like the ACC speed increase/decrease system as is. When I set the level inevitably it is 2-4km over or under the limit I want so a single up or down press on the toggle sorts it out as it changes to the nearest 5kmh. For example I want the ACC set at 100kmh & it is at 103kmh when I set it. A single press down & it is on 100 kmh. The upgrade makes this more complex.

I downloaded the 2 & 4 years service schedules before they removed it from the website. I will be asking for the price and schedule details before my first service & if there is significant change then there are issues surrounding breach of contract that may need to be addressed.

The original price for the 4 year service was over the top. There was little different from the 2 year service, just battery and transmission coolant renewal & transmission fluid replacement but the price was triple. I spoke to an MG salesman about this & he advised me to take it up with the service dept as he also thought it was over the top.

On a positive note, the MG4 has never let me down & the driving experience has far outweighed the issues mentioned above. Overall it is a great car. I paid top dollar at the time but at least got a government subsidy. Those who purchased during the price drop promotion got really good deals.
My car is due on the 4/10/25 for its first service…I will be in contact with McGraths well beforehand to find out what is in store and what cost.

My MG4 77 registration is due in late April 2025. The car was built in July 2023, does this mean that the first service is due in April 2026?

Dealers normally put a sticker on the inside of the driver's windscreen with the next service interval date and odometer reading (whichever comes first).

As anyone changed the 12V in their MG4 I see there is a large horizontal bar with bolts over the top of where the 12V is housed, with the inevitable 12V change of battery this looks like a pain in the arse to change the 12V.
