Dealer says car is ready to collect. I said send photos of update on software and bracket this is what they sent.
The bracket looks good, the “no new version available” is a joke though, that’s what the car says when you ask it to search for OTA updates, it is not an actual indication that the car has the latest software. Maybe check the software update thread to see if you can cross reference some of the software numbers there with what’s on the screen

The entertainment screen still shows R04 - that has me concerned that no updates have been made.

My weekend really will be ruined, this is for doing work, not play!

We are moving house soon so it will get a work out, then be kept for ongoing duties.

Trailer is ~250 kg, leaving 250 kg for payload. I'll take it to the local weigh bridge at the local tip/recycling centre one day to check.

Just realised the car I have purchased is the same colour as yours. July 2023 77. What year month was yours built?

That's a tidy tow bar installation.

What's the energy situation at your new place? Will you still have solar and battery?

June 2023. Mine is the 64 Essence model. Picked it up late-September 2023.

Yes they did a neat job. I'll get some more pics at some stage with it removed.

New place has no solar PV at all. Nor any aircon or heating, which it will need occasionally - mind you being close to the beach it will be less cold and less hot than where we are now.

I will be taking my off-grid system with me but how that gets deployed is to be decided.

The new place does have some solar powered equipment - the water heater is solar thermal and so is the pool heating. But it does take up most of the prime roof real estate.

I suspect I'll get a commercially installed grid-tied solar PV + battery system, maybe with integrated EV charging. It has a big 10 x 15 m double story shed, so maybe I'll take that off-grid... or the pool pumps. Lots to ponder on that front.

This is half a k walk from our new place:

Looks like a beautiful spot. Just a bit difficult getting the MG4 down the steps to the beach.

If those photos show how the dealer is doing updates, then the answer is No - they haven't done any updates. They need to connect their laptop to the car and run the MG software tool.

Being close to a large water area is great for solar, and the Pacific ocean is quite a good size pond .... the sun reflects back up against any water mist and back down on the panels .... it was good for an additional 20% output on our rag tag solar array when we lived in Lake Illawarra (suburb not water) with the lake in one direction and the ocean in the other direction ..... did make it incredibly humid though ...... and the salt mist is murder on anything that can corrode and eats out timber work real quick .....

There is a 4WD entry to the beach down the road. No chance I'll be taking the MG though!

It will be interesting to see how the local micro climate operates. Lots of tall trees around.

The home has no signs of any corrosion, had it pretty thoroughly checked. Steel frame and roof on concrete slab.

Nah. This site only allows you to enter your model (for the profile on the left) based on UK model naming. In Australia the MG 4 LR is the 77 kWh model but in the UK LR refers to the 64 kWh models, hence any possible confusion.

If those photos show how the dealer is doing updates, then the answer is No - they haven't done any updates. They need to connect their laptop to the car and run the MG software tool.

They told me a few days ago the updates were done and then I said take a photo to show me, so they took a photo and showed me this - after the update has been done (supposedly) a day or two before this photo was taken.

What siteguru is saying is that photo is only relevant to the infotainment system, not the car's dozens of other operating systems.

ok so how to know what software version is installed in the car?
It requires vehicle diagnostics tools to do that. Which effectively means you can't, only the service centre or someone with the tools and knowledge can tell you if the system is up to date.

ok thanks, will just have to take their word then

My car (June 23 build) is on Infotainment version R04 & everything works fine as far as I am concerned. There is an OTA update now available for the Satnav system that can program in chargers when creating a trip but I am not bothered about this anyway as 1. I don't go in many long trips and 2. I use plugshare to find chargers. iSmart can also find all the chargers as well.
