Yes it was, engine remap and induction changes, gearbox remapped, and the haldex remapped to give more AWD bias and haldex clutch pressure increased for the increased power.

Impressive! But a "standard" Golf R probably wouldn't have lived with an X Power.
A standard Golf R, your old Golf R and an
X Power, in a drag race, would be very very interesting.

The thing, with reviews like this, is that there's not many opportunities to rag it against other cars along twisty roads in the manner that it's being dissed for. It's that very fact of what it does against the competition off the lights or on dual carriage/motorway etc which puts such a wide grin on your face. How is that not fun!!!

A month or so ago I found myself having to floor it when an older M5 decided to gun it when I went to overtake him. I put my foot down for safety reasons of course . I wouldn’t say I was surprised, but he probably was, when I left him in the dust.
Today I was following a Nissan GTR, and decided to see if I could keep up with him when he floored it. I’d say I was able to keep up (for a few seconds at least), but only just. He had a slight head start, but yeah, I suspect he would have me at a drag strip.
Whats some of the fastest cars you’ve left in the dust ?

Golf R vs Xpower you say...

So basically he's saying they are both very good cars. But the Golf R handles better. Not that the X Power handles badly, just that the Golf R is better. And thats about it.
Considering the X Power is approximately,
depending on options £16,000 cheaper, probably more. And yes I know we always mention the price difference, between the X Power and other performance cars/EVs
But that's a huge, factor in why we buy,
X Power's. Bang for Buck, it just can't be beaten, and probably never will.

It's the fact you've left him for Dead, that's very satisfying. And the fact you've almost certainly Pissed him off, no end.

Ive had a few Audis, Telsas , BMWs.

One HSV 340kW clubsport R8 ( for my UK friends it is the super fast Vauxhall vxr gts r8 ) and he was screaming but could not put the power down other wise he would have smoked me im sure ..

I'm always accelerating off from the lights fast so at a rough guess they give up after the first few seconds to AVOID embarrassment of getting smoked by a MG or a car at a 3rd of the price !!

Got to watch those Teslas. The performance models, which look almost identical to the 'normal' ones, are pretty quick. They're also almost twice the price...

My MG reeks at the moment. I put a set of rubber mats in the thing, it's like sitting in a rubber factory.
