Customer Service

Oh sorry to hear that. In the end, I had to threaten legal action via a solicitor who specialised in dispute resolution. It was expensive but it did the trick and got the dealers attention. Sad state of affairs, it seems car dealerships operate a bit like the Wild West! I’m sure there are good ones, but some sure are bad! Good luck getting yours sorted.
Thanks for your quick response, it’s a shame it ended up costing you money. Do you mind me asking what your resolution was in the end?

The dealer swapped the vehicle like for like, same spec

That's disgraceful service, more from MG than the dealer!
Has the dealer tried to use a rapid (DC) charger? If this worked it might prove that the AC to DC converter in the car is faulty.
Hi, my trophy is going in tomorrow for a 2 day investigation as won’t charge on my normal charger at work or home but will charge on fast charge at a service station. I dropped it in last week after waiting 3 months for the appointment for them to request last thing for me to leave it overnight which I couldn’t as had an important vet appointment the following day and they couldn’t provide me with a courtesy car at that time. Crawley mg called me first thing the following day about them having my car back tomorrow and Friday and have a courtesy car available this time luckily. I did have to get stressed and obviously angry at the disappointing appointment last week as I know my car wasn’t looked at until 3pm and was locked shut by 4, when I had dropped it off first thing. I was told they couldn’t guarantee what time it would be looked at or even to collect if I had left it. We shall see what Thurs/fri shows but it sound like what @Grriff has put above on mine, so thank you👍

Your issue sounds like the (in)famous CCU failure ... how old is your car? Does it have a rear wiper? Are there metal pins in the L2 and L3 slots of the Type 2 charge port?

They are replacing the CPU (sure that’s what he said). It’s not communicating. Luckily all covered under warranty and they will still give me a courtesy car even if only a day to fix.

It'll be the CCU ... Charge Control Unit or Combined Charging Unit. There isn't a CPU - except for maybe several of them in various modules in the car.

Thank you for the response. They definitely said CPU but I also believe it’s called an ECU (as another chap at the dealership called it when I went to collect the car) in cars from looking up what they had told me. It’s the main computer in the vehicle that is not registering various communications/commands within the car’s system. Tbh as long as it’s fixed I’m happy. I’m never going to be technically understanding of the bits I don’t need to know and it’s covered by the warranty so I’m not going to learn now unfortunately.

Hi, little update. They replaced the CCU (guy at MG apologised for using the wrong term when previously talking me through the work required he is helping out in the department as so busy and short staffed) and now they need to replace the plug socket itself. So my car is back with the Tuesday and will update if this actually solves the issue. Luckily they are covering the cost of the courtesy car as MG have now decided to charge per day for them. They had my car for a week to replace the CCU whilst I was abroad and failed to communicate that it wasn’t fixed for my return so I found out on the pre-arranged day of collection. Nearly 6 months to resolve this issue due to a 3 month wait for my first appointment but now the dealership is doing what they can thankfully.

MG Nedlands?

Given @diprimmer24's location is Crawley, I somewhat doubt it. ;)
When I click it I get Crawley in Perth, right next to Nedlands...?
