Hi all,
Do any of you own an MG4 in NL?
Is the service terrible or I'm imagining it

I bought the car used on September 24.
Since then the infotainment version has been:
SWI68-29958-1300R24.

Also, the LKA tries to kill me periodically.

I've asked for the latest software. For the car and infotainment like 3-4 times now... (I also have a wind whistle noise)

And they say everything is up to date...
R24 is how old now... 1.5-2 years?

Now, finally, I was invited to update to SC77.

AND IT COSTS MONEY?! for a software update?

How can I compel them to also update the infotainment version at least?

Thanks!!

Also in NL, i went 2 times in for bBluetooth issues, last time without me asking for updates on the infotainment they did that. Now the Bluetooth forgets my phone only once or twice a month instead of daily, but my left star button does not work, so i can't pull up the camera when i want to. For free so far.

Initially i was on R40 and was a better experience for me. Now on i think R46.

So it is random i guess.

SC = Service Campaign ... when the car is presented for any service work then the update is supposed to be applied. As it's an SC then MG pay for the work as warranty work - whether that covers the actual whole time needed to do the update I don't know; it depends on how good the techs are at the dealership. (The ones at my dealer seem to know enough).

R24 is definitely outdated. The latest version for your car is R63, though that has nothing to do with SC077; it’s simply the infotainment system, which can be updated using a USB stick.

SC077 involves updating the FDR (front radar) as well as a few other ECUs using a diagnostic tool and proprietary software.

A good dealer should update the infotainment system and carry out the SC077 updates at the same time, as both would be highly beneficial.

1. Is it reasonable they demand money for software updates?
2. How can I demand them to upgrade me to R63?
As I've already asked 3 times and they say mine R24 is the latest... blatantly lying

They should perform the update free of charge under warranty if you report issues, as they can then claim the cost back from MG Nederland through a warranty claim.

Otherwise, whether they charge for updates is entirely up to the dealer.

Some dealers are reluctant to perform module updates because they can be time-consuming, carry the risk of bricking modules (which then takes hours to fix), or simply because MG doesn’t compensate them enough for the process. Updating the infotainment, however is rather quick, and it is a stable and straightforward process…

Here is a picture of R63, you can try showing it to your dealer. Since SWI68-29958-1300Rxx is identical, it IS designed for your car

Actually I'm not sure...
I didnt notice issues before...
Can you set a charge limit in the car using the slider in the Charging tab under the Battery tile? (Sometimes dealers update the Infotainment to R63 via USB, but forget to do the configuration via SIPS. A symptom of this is the charge limit slider not working).
