MG ISMART App

I have a 2022 MG ZS EV Trophey. I was wondering if anyone else has problems with the MG ISMART app, it never works unless we are in a good mobile phone signal area. And we're not. Am I missing a setting somewhere in the car.

The car needs mobile phone coverage, think of it as another mobile you are communicating with.

When you say a bad area what is you phone signal saying 5g 4g ? Some areas still have 3G like where live I have 3G with full bars and normally have 5g with one bar. I think the sim will cover most networks and bands.

I dont think the ZS EV have 5G, from memory it supports 3G and 4G. (And 2G i guess)

Here in Denmark atleast, most all 3G has been shut down and the frequencies are being repurposed for the 4G and/or 5G networks.

No, the app has major flaws; it will disconnect from the MG server with unhelpful message 'token expired' (?) and then on resetting (password + email/phone) says 'bind car' WHICH reports 'car already bound' leading to a remote, tortuous and unreliable procedure to un-bind the vehicled (the app still shows my phone number). I've learned to live for long periods without remote monitoring e.g. charging abroad (some high speed chargers will give the est'd finish time). It's a weak point in the brand, not enough to move to another make but irritating as hell. FYI the majority of MG ZS users do not report any problems.

At home (7kW PodPoint charger) I use (1) its settings on/off (2) my off peal Octopus times (3) standard programmed charging form the dashboard and it works fine.
