Hi everyone, wondering if anyone has taken their MG to a drive in movie? Unsure how long the battery lasts when the engine is off but car is in stand by.

In accessory mode mine turns off after 10 minutes to preserve the 12v.
In ready mode, hours.
The only problem in Drive-in movies (in Ready mode) is you can turn off the headlights but you can't turn the DRLs off, unless you sit there with the car off altogether.

Thanks so much for your help, pardon my ignorance but what are DRLs? When you say hours... More than 4 hours? We're planning to see a double feature ?

Unless you've got the OBD dongle, and the app we were all testing the hell out of a while back. Didn't that have an option to shut the drls off?

It did have the option but for some reason it didn't work on mine, I think others said it did on theirs.

If you have the AC on full blast it takes about 2 miles off the range in 10 minutes so 12 miles each hour, 48 miles in 4 hours max. So with a full battery around 12 hours. But you wouldn't be able to tolerate the AC on full blast for 4 hours anyway, so it would be less.
I'm not sure how much having the heating on full blast takes off the range but I would assume something similar (someone will probably be along soon to confirm or dispute that ;) )
So basically 4 hours is easily doable as long as your battery is more than 1/3 charged, even with full heat or cooling.

I took the family to a drive in movie (Jumanji) in Dalkeith in May. We left the car in Ready mode so we could have the soundtrack come through the infotainment system, once we tuned into their radio frequency.

Other cars had their ICE engines on so made me appreciate our BEV more! :p

It was all good (we were only there for 2 hours) - good sound quality and comfy seats but I must admit I felt a bit cramped with my bag of popcorn, can of pop, box of choccies and ice cream tub around me! :ROFLMAO:

Cheers

Average UK household daily electricity consumption is around 11kWh and you have a 40kWh of usable battery in ZS EV. Do the math and you will find that there is no need to be worried at all!!

Enjoy the movie...

It will last for literally days.

HVAC pulls 2 kW max. so it could last 20 h if your car is fully charged.

Edit: 20 hours or more, it depends on the power that is pulled from the battery.

I can't work out if the filter is operational all the time or just on recirc.
That is a good question ?.
You would expect it to work when it pulls in air from the outside surely ?.
We need a the "Bio Defence Mode" like on the Tesla models !.
Handy when you are passing by a field when they are muck spreading - Nasty .

I would expect so, but they always advise you to turn on recirc to exclude outside air/fumes, I wondered if the inside air was "purified" as well in this situation ?
