Does anyone know (through unfortunate experiences) what happens when you charge outdoors and it rains?
Does it stop charging? or do you have to panic and run out to get it disconnected

I have charged in the rain most of the time the car gets wet and so do I running around unplugging it and replacing the lead into to holder of the charger and replacing the rubber bungs and closing the flap?

Chargers make so many safety checks before alllowing a charge to start it's a wonder they start at all. If you look at a connector all the high voltage pins are well shrouded and isolated from each other and once fitted into the car it's near impossible for rain water to 'get in'.
It's common sense not to stand in a puddle while holding a high voltage cable but honestly you're quite safe.
Any hint of an earthing problem and the power is cut instantly.

Last charge I did was in something akin to a Monsoon!
It was perfectly fine.
Was like that Sunday here, bucketing it down all day and I charged my ZS for over 4 hours in the rain then SWMBO's 5 for over 5 hours. The lead, the plug and the charging ports were wet through and no problem. I even unplugged them whilst it was raining.
You can't get a shock off anything as it's all isolated. Water can't get inside the plug while it's plugged in and as soon as you pull it out it switches the charger off as the 12v signal wire is disconnected. ;)
