I saw the thread about LED lights and bought one of the recommended sets of NightEyes. I tried fitting these last weekend and followed the instructions in the ZS manual to disconnect the -ve battery lead first. The tips on the forum came in useful, I used a flat blade knife to get the connector off and had to use grips to shift the original bulb. I waited for dusk to do a road test and was really pleased with the daylight like result.

Two days later, I tried to charge the car with my Wallbox home charger, but it wouldn't work, it said it was 'awaiting demand from the car'. The car display read 'Connected not charging'. So I tried the granny charger but got the same result. Searching on the forum, I couldn't see that anyone else had had this probem.

In desperation I reached for the 10mm spanner and disconnected the battery again for 20 mins, hoping for some sort of reset. On reconnection , hey presto the car made the plugging in noise and the home charger was back in business.

Nobody else who has replaced bulbs seems to have reported this problem, but it appears that a similar event to the public charger handshake issue was triggered albeit with a different message.

I realise there will be similar content to this post in two other threads but this particular circumstance appears to be unique.

I can't see how it can be the actual light bulbs being changed.
I would guess that for some reason, the battery disconnect & reconnect that you did when you changed them caused it.

The more times I hear someone has had to do the 10mm spanner reboot, the more I think MG should consider fitting a permanent small battery isolation switch!

I didn't disconnect the battery when I tried to change my headlight bulbs, I just had them turned off so no power was going to the wires, can't see why disconnecting the battery is really required?

Reconnecting the 12v battery, it would easy to make several connect/disconnects whilst doing it. This could result in transients that could easily put the software into some odd state, or lockout. If doing this, try to make the reconnection as "clean" as possible.

A bit like unplugging your PC while it's running, the "Windows did not shut down properly" type of thing, or like on the PS4 where it does a disk scan/check before rebooting etc.

Have you tried turning your caff off and back on again? ?

I have had issues with the charging plug both on public charging and the granny charger but my home charger is fine. The issue I have found is the pins that lock the charge plug can be sticking, not fully engaging. I generally find giving the plug a wiggle solves the issue
