Hi guys
New to the forum. Had my zs now for 3 weeks, and done 1600 mikes and overall very happy. One question I would like to ask is how hot do people find the heaters , as mine if I have the blower on full feel cold as if the force of the air is too powerful for the heat. If I put fan down to say 1/4 power then I can feel warm air although it’s nowhere near as warm as an ice car heater . But concerned with winter coming that the car will be a cold place to be. Maybe I got a thermostat issue perhaps

Yes I do drive in eco mode . So in say sport the temp gets hotter ?
I’ll give that a try later , thanks for quick reply

I tried some different temperatures with the torque app and found this:

Hvac temps:
1st heat bar = 31,7°
2nd heat bar = 38,2°
3rd heat bar = 44,6°
4th heat bar = 52,2°
5th heat bar = 55,3°
6th heat bar = 61,3°
7th heat bar = 65,8°

If i increase fan Speed the hvac has to work alot more. Tried at 1st heat bar and went from full fan speed to lowest, and hvac temp was at 31,7, but showed 40° right after i turned the fan Speed to lowest to slowly go down to 31,7 again.
I Wonder Whats the ideal setting for most range in Cold Weather? Higher temp and lower speed or higher fan speed with lower temp? Need some testing!

On the middle bar, niether Cold or warm, it shows 25,3°. Thought this ment No heat? But apparently heats Up. Outside temp was 12°. Wonder if this setting follows the outside temp somehow or if it's Still heating if it's warmer outside?

I also noticed FWD demist was off all the Time, untill i tried with air condition Button. Then FWD demist turns on every now and then.
I've also noticed some fogging Up in low temps but i havent had air con on, maybe that Will help with the fog issue?

See pic with FWD demist, turns on for some seconds then switches off:

Many have agreed the heat output is very slightly less than that of an ICE car, but not that much.
Eco mode will reduce the heat into the cabin by a lot.
That is what it is intended to do.
The heater ( on a high heat setting ) will eat up your range quickly, so ECO mode restricts the use of power being pulled from the HV battery for this very reason.
In normal and sport modes the heater output is totally unrestricted.
My car is parked outside all year around, even when we have had a huge snow fall, the car will get toasty and defrosted in a very short time.
You can turn on the recirc button, this will warm up the car quickly, but as soon as you see the side windows starts to show any signs of misting up, release the recirc button !.
The biggest advantage of a EV heater over a ICE car heater, is the speed in how quickly it reacts.
Oh ........ And no large white clouds of toxic fumes of course !.

You may have realised it works the similar with aircon @peterh - the aircon on cold behaves the same way as described above for heat. Eco mode will knock it right back to save the battery.

3 or 4 blobs of heat and 2 or 3 blobs of fan works for me.
I wouldn't use Eco mode when it's cold, I think what you would save in range by being in Eco is eaten up by needing to turn up the heat.

I find that 2+2 just maintains it nicely, maybe more to get it going but reducing to 2+2 after a minute.

thanks for the reply

Slightly off topic but can you turn the heater on and warm the car whilst it’s still charging as I tried and left the car heating for 3-4 mins and when I got in it was not really much hotter?

Yes you can but make sure you have pressed the start button twice (without using the footbrake) otherwise it will will switch off after a short period.

I noticed there's quite a difference in the flickering HV amperage drawn between 4 heat and 4 fan and 2 heat and 2 fan, it flickers up to 10A on 4,4 and only 3A on 2,2.
