Hi I got 2024 MG4 trophy. I stopped using the navigation system because I put my home destination in and it took me miles out the way no where near my home has anyone else had this problem.

No, but I don't use the onboard navigation system. I and most other people I know use the navigation provided via Android Auto or Apple Carplay.
Is there any reason you wouldn't be able to do that?

I understand that and I do use it but I paid extra for it

Yes and no. You paid more for the "Trophy" model which includes this feature amongst many others that is not included in the base model, but just because it is present doesn't mean it should be better than other products that can perform the same function.

All of my recent cars have included a SatNav capability. They've all been tosh in comparison to Android Auto and I've never used them even though I "paid for them".

I don't cut my nose off to spite my face either ;)

Look on the bright side. At least you didn't get a Tesla where you have no choice but to use their inbuilt SatNav!

Well I pay for something I want it to work I work hard for my money like u I just don't let things like this go whats up to me please don't reply anymore we all got ways we do things

I use the car's satnav most of the time and have not had a problem with incorrect locations. It does try to send you up one track roads occasionally.

What does the satnav show when you are at home?

Just show me where I am then I put in a post code. It shows me where to go but it's not going the right way. I found this out today: my mate had Google maps on so I knew we were not going the right way. It wanted to take me miles out the way.

The are a number of settings (cog icon) that control the routing, it may be these are driving the solution. I can't remember them but there must be shortest/fastest/economical. Have a play to see what happens as you change them.

There can be more than one good way to get to a destination.

Is it possible that it has "avoid tolls" in settings? I find it's pretty good, but I'm in Australia so obviously the maps are completely different.

Personally haven't had any issues with the onboard satnav ( MG4 Trophy ) but you do have to make sure you have it set correctly for you personal road choices as shortest, quickest or most economical else it does take you on what appears to be unusual routes, as for incorrectly directing me to the wrong destination that as never happened to me, I've not looked but when your parked at home can you not store that location so you wouldn't need to program it in. Have never put my home location in as I never have a problem navigating back home ( ex class 1 driver ).

Think it's Same system on mg3 hybrid used it once kept telling me to turn the wrong way left instead of right and vice versa and then started to recalculate route after few min heading wrong direction.

Used my satnav on my MG3 Hybrid the other day and got me lost.Didn't know where it was going.Kept redirecting me.In the end used my mobile and Google maps.

I have got a MG5 EV and mainly use the car's inbuilt satnav. It has the disadvantage of not knowing traffic.

Android Auto, is better and more to date.

Talking to the car and asking questions is quite novel. Android Auto confesses to be an expert on Victorian Slang. However, when asking about Stonehenge, I realised it had changed the satnav to go there.....

Yes, I put in a local address in Eastbourne, where I live, and the sat-nav wanted to take me there via Worthing, a 2 hour round trip! I generally use Google Maps via Android Auto.

Google Maps has its occasional issues. A few times now I've told it to go to my house (Google conveniently puts my postcode at the end of my drive). Of late it's been trying to send me to a place about 2 miles away, depending from where I start.

We had a similar problem, but figured I had changed it at some point while we were out and about by accident. Just reset your home location by adding it when you are in the driveway. It should work then.

It's not particularly relevant, but I got misdirected by an in-car satellite navigation system while in Oregon, USA. It told me to turn right, and I found myself in a ghost town—absolutely bizarre!!

Not sure whether or not I can contribute here here goes; tell me off if I have got it wrong. I have a new MG3+Hybrid Trophy and following a few months trying to sort out the strange and interesting problems with this car, now love it. It is the most quirky-vehicle that I have ever owned. After 3 weeks of ownership of my new vehicle, I was ready to trade it in for something 'simpler' to use. Now; I love it; (owned it for 5 months and 4000 miles.) The satnav system is generally first class but every so often, sends me on strange trip absolutely nowhere where I want to be? For some reason albeit I have entered my home address, the satnav system sends me all over 'The - Planet'. Yes; seriously!! My wife and I love this car but so many strange 'things'? I was ready to get rid of this vehicle until I realised that my Audi Q5 was just as strange. The Audi cost £47,000. The MG; £19995. I love the MG3+ but was the 'expert' who designed the technology sober at the time? Over to you!

We have found that our destination always states you are here on the left, when it's on the otherside.
The other took us to the centre of town 2 miles away from destination.
We now use Google maps through the infotainment system.
