So, Long Range you say ?

I think the point is resetting the trip computer to make it give you an unrealistic longer range is generally terrible advice!

It’s all fine and dandy if you’re familiar with driving an EV but there are people that aren’t.

If someone is doing a long trip for the first time in an EV and plans in a sensible charging stop, they are going to get pretty stressed out seeing the range plummet 50+ miles in a short period of time. They are probably going to be in for a bit of a shock if it’s on the motorway or winter. Let alone starting off with the car displaying official WLTP figures!
The point is people do reset their trips and suddenly think they have more range than they actually do (as you say not the best idea).

If you're doing a long trip, have a few charging stops options with a bit of wiggle room and there shouldn't be an issue.

With the differences in battery chem (e.g. SR charge to 100% and LR charge to max 80% for short trips) the LR vs SR now would have made little difference to me outside of a little bit longer spent at charging stations twice a year. My longest normal drive (airfield and back) uses 40% in summer and 60% in winter (90 mile round trip, most roads 60mph).

That's why the SE SR made most sense for me ... the range was fine for day-to-day usage, and I didn't need the added spec of the Trophy.

...you could even run it off your battery using a V2L adapter giving you an in car heater that is electric, portable and not dependent on mains electricity! Win! Win! Win! :ROFLMAO:
In case "HazardLights" didn't notice, I was suggesting using grid power to do this. On a cold morning, it can take 2-3% of battery to defrost and warm up the car, this does it before you step out of your door (if you have a separate cable for the fan heater) best to have it blow under the seat, so it's nice and toasty! Of course, it'll also defrost all the windows, depending how long you have it on...
