Hi I’m still having a problem connecting to MG iSmart. I have just purchased a used MG4 EV 2023. I have downloaded the isSmart app and opened an account using my phone number.
It then asks me to bind with the car. When I try to log into the car screen using the phone number and password, I get a message telling me ‘Implementation has failed try again later’ and if I try to log in with the QR code, the screen initiates but the QR code does not appear.
I have tried changing the background from auto to light and dark just in case the code was there but I couldn’t see it.
Do you think that maybe the previous owner did not de-bind or would that not make any difference? Any ideas very welcome, thank you!

Others will have more details and knowledge than me, but it sure sounds like it hasn't been debinded.
I "think" MG has a procedure for this, involving contact to MG

Yes - if the car is still bound to the previous owner's account then you won't be able to bind it to your own as the required QR code won't show.

Email [email protected] regarding the issue, with a copy of your sales invoice as proof of ownership. Maybe also include a copy of your V5C.

Can't unbinding be done in the app now? I've not needed it, and the Australian version of iSmart seems rather different to others. It gives the previous owner something like 72 hours to respond, and if nothing happens, the unbinding occurs. That would probably be much quicker at this time of year.

Hi,
I have a new MG4 Trophy LR - picked it up on christmas eve - I have a similar issue, I have been in touch with MG customer service, I got some information back and stepped through the troubleshooting, I don't get the QR code and after a reset I get a 404 error - I have sent a video back to MG to help diagnose the issue

This was the steps...
iSmart:
complete a factory reset on the FICM by following the below steps

  1. Select ‘settings’ in the FICM
  2. Select ‘system’
  3. Select ‘restore to factory settings’ then ‘restore’
  4. Wait 1 minute for the FICM to shut down and then hold your finger on the ‘home button’ for 5 seconds to reboot
  5. When the FICM reboots, ensure to ‘agree’ to the privacy policy,….at the bottom of the privacy policy you must ensure that the toggles for ‘map’ ‘voice’ and ‘online music’ are switched to ‘on’.
  6. You will also get the option to set up iSmart when the FICM reboots, ensure that you attempt to bind at this point if the QR code is visible
I am not sure my car can reach the server, I have even put it on my mobile hotspot and get the same issue

I also don't get the weather and it can't work out my location - see the attached

Hopefully I will get some more feedback soon

Thanks again Rob

I forgot about that - and that probably makes more sense than someone from France emailing MG UK. 🤦‍♂️😂

Hi, took delivery of a second hand MG4 yesterday and have the exact same issue and tried the exact same steps above. Be great to hear if you find a solution

I have had exactly the same problem since just before Christmas. The car seems to have logged me out of the account, although the iSMART App on my phone is in and communicates with the car for “readings” , charging levels etc. If I send a Sat nav destination to the car, I cannot log in to see it. The whole of the Account tab in the User screen is useless. I get the implementation has failed message and it will not berate a QR code. I’ve just emailed my MG Dealer🤞🤞😳 Gordon Bennett!

I have just gone from R40 (came with the car I picked up on New Year's eve) to R63 - its resolved/improved alot of things that I had spotted over the last week of owning the car, and the iSmart connected and it working...all good

Hi all,
I had the same issue with ZS EV 2023. I factory reset the head unit and the qr appeared and I blinded to the iSMART app with no issues. I’d try a factory reset of head unit first.

Best regards.

I had the same issue in November and tried all the suggested steps. I gave MG all the info they asked for and they seemed to be looking into a remote reset but I am not sure if they did or did not attempt this however, after about 3-4 weeks I decided to try one more time and the QR code magically appeared and I was able to connect as normal.

Hi all,

I have just brought a used ZS EV

I have the QR code show, I can scan it but it just goes back to the scan code screen. Can anybody help?

If the code shows does that mean it is not bound to the previous owner, as I am wondering why it won't take the QR code.

Make sure you're scanning the right QR code ... one of them is usually for downloading the app. It's the 2nd QR code you need to scan using the iSmart app.

(Answered on the basis of the MG4 as this is the MG4 board).
