During my 11,667 mile ownership, I reckon I have probably been in Sport mode for about 500 miles.
Maybe less.

Shocking I know.

Well it was to me.

I usually flick it into Sport when something or somebody needs 'dealing' with, or the conditions require the added surety of the 4wd system.

I seem to remember using it for longer stretches as well, but on the whole, she remains resolutely in Normal mode....

Which is a bit of a waste really, but still plenty quick enough for daily driving.

I think my rationale is that I'm trying to eek out a few extra miles from the remaining available battery.

Not shy in deploying Sport when required though tbf, twice I "needed" it today, to make sure I was first away from a very slippery roundabout GP. 🤣

"Child"

I know.

Can't help it.

I suppose what it really boils down to, for the most part, is that I just need to get about sensibly and without fuss.

This, the X Power does very well indeed, but it can also be 'daft as a brush' when called upon.

Does anyone here leave their car in Sport All the time?

Same as you, Chris. Normal mode most of the time, which let's face it, will still see most cars, off. Or if you see, a driver, pull up at the side or behind you at the lights, and you just know, he's gonna, have a go,
(You just know, they are, you can tell um)
Then sports mode it is. Or if your going for a decent spin, and the roads are dry and you just fancy a play, I'll put it in sports mode, for the duration. Probably is a bit childish, but it's just gotta be done.
Never gets boring. 🙂👍

Normal mode here too for around 90% of the time.

I only use Sport when conditions are a bit slippy (cold / wet) or when I really want some fast starts 😉.

I found quite early on that booting it from roundabout exits in Normal mode could result in a few miiliseconds of the car sorting its grip out with quite some twitchiness when conditions were'nt ideal. Sport mode seems better in these conditions to me.

I'm sure a tyre upgrade would improve things no end but that won't be on the cards for me anymore.

I guess we're quite lucky with the Xpower that we can configure the favourite buttons to switch drive modes very quickly when needed. A lot of other car brands would require lots of menus on the infotainnment screen to do this.

I have ours in custom 95% of the time with Normal power and sports steering settings (the steering has so little feel and feedback that I prefer it a bit heavier as feels it 'may' be connected to something!).

I also select sport often when I'm alone in the car and 'making progress' on the way to work (12 miles of twisty B-Road), when I know I can charge or for the odd childish traffic light GP.

Normal mainly for me, i think it has perfect throttle/power response, gentle first but will bite if you want it to.
Like eco as well to be fair.
Sport(fun) mode does get a look in also😎.
IMHO this car does far far more things just right for me against any niggles it has which are all software related.
The hardware, balance, feel and function of the car as a whole is spot on, MG nailed it.

Mostly Normal mode, Sport for a B road blast, warp speed or all 4 wheels need grip otherwise if I am trying to get the charge under 10% for the monthly equalisation charge to increase power use.
I was under impression that full equalisation charge from under %10 was only required every 6 months (as per owner manual) and monthly equalisation was just any % to %100 (ie %30.- %10) but I could be wrong

Probably wouldn't hurt to do a full equalisation each month though

Haven’t tried custom yet - are settings remembered? Tend to mostly leave it in normal for local roads and mix of normal/eco on motorways with occasional sport thrown in for feel-good factor 😜

I set custom every drive. Yes it’s VERY annoying but I much prefer the car to behave the same way that I’m used to.
Sports steering and power (it’s always there if I WANT it) and comfort throttle. All the beans, finer control.

Oh and OPD as soon as it’ll allow.

Scary to find out that it’s not stopping though when you’re used to it heh. 90% should be fine to enable it but nooo, it’ll decide when it wants to.

was only required every 6 months
Interesting, my manual just says "at regular intervals"

It says that on page 23. But on page 296 (in the service and maintenance section) it is more specific...

3 It is recommended using the vehicle at least once a month. Where possible it is recommended that you carry out a slow charging (equalisation charging) every month to extend the service life of high-voltage battery pack. The battery management system will monitor the status of the high voltage battery pack. After monitoring for a period of time, if an equalisation charge has not been carried out for some time the message centre in the instrument pack will display ‘Please Slow-charge the Vehicle’. At this time you must carry out an equalisation charge. For operation mode ,please refer to ‘Equalisation Charging’ in ‘Starting &Driving’ section.

Roads were slippery today and I found that I was getting some understeer on roundabouts at slow speeds, so I thought I'd have some fun. Turned esc off and put it in eco and booted it from time to time. It's such a shame that esc off isn't completely off as it was a hoot getting the back out. I can see the fun of having a trophy (although the slow understeer was a bit unnerving, glad I have AWD when I need it)

We need a 'rally' version of the XPower, that has an adjustable front-rear bias (electronic) diff.

Could be called the MG XPower WRX STi Type R Limited Edition, exclusively available in blue with gold wheels :)... And yes, my OH had a Scooby in the 1990's.
