Updates

I’m not sure what problems you are having with front camera? I don’t seem to be having a problem myself. Unless it’s something that happens at particular times, and I haven’t come across it yet. Please enlighten me.

I'm not having any problems with it, when I phoned my dealer to book the car in for the PD052 update they stated they weren't aware of this update and that PD050 was the only one out and they said it was for front camera.

It looks like MG UK is being left out of the loop. The update is available Europe wide.

It's just like when we had our Citroen c3 aircross the climate control was faulty on every brand new model but they wouldn't admit to it, yet all the time they were replacing them in FRANCE, eventually they did admit to it and replaced. This feels like " Been here before"

Demesne
No actually we're not part of Europe any more, that's probably why we're not getting it!!!!

Only the update PD 052 was installed.

See my early report here.

Which error is the PD 050 update supposed to fix? So far I haven't noticed any errors with the ACC, except that I think the minimum distance is too large.

I have had a reply to my email to MG head office.
Good afternoon

Thank you for contacting MG customer care

Unfortunately, we don’t have a confirmed date of when this update will be available for customers vehicles in the UK.

I understand your frustrations, please request for your dealership to make note of when it becomes available they can update you to get booked back in for the update to be carried out.

Kindest regards

I went to MG Weston super mare yesterday and they said there were NO updates for High Revs or any other. Such bloomin’ conflicting information.
Same car, same dealer, same result. No updates etc available and can find no fault with the car.

Clearly MG know there is an issue - are they lying to us about there not being a known defect? I assume there are legal implications that come into play if they admit a problem but don't have a fix available.

From a legal standpoint, if a manufacturer is knowingly withholding information about a defect, there may be grounds for a consumer protection complaint, especially if it’s affecting the vehicle's performance and could potentially lead to greater issues in the future. In the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 provides protections for goods that are of unsatisfactory quality or not fit for purpose, which could apply if the defect is affecting the car’s usability.

For now i'm stuck driving a (albeit generally decent) car causing excessive wear on the engine when there is a solution out there. Just one I can't get!

I just can't understand how it can be available in one country and not another, thats admitting that there is a fault.

, if an update is available for a fault on a new car in a European country, it should also be available in the UK by law, as the UK previously adhered to EU regulations regarding vehicle safety and standards, meaning any updates required for a fault on a car sold in one European country should be accessible to owners in the UK as well; this is due to the principle of "free movement of goods" within the EU, even though the UK has left the bloc, the core safety standards remain largely the same.

That's what I got off Google after asking the question.

MG UK have questions to answer. No point contacting MG Europe ,they will refer you back to the UK dealership. The dealerships could also be holding back on the update because it is free and if owners come to them for the update they will have to turn away possibly money paying customers .The updates available only take approx 1 hour to install .
