Does anybody else notice a very distinct vibration in their ZS at 2,000 - 2,200 revs? I’ve had my ZS Hybrid for a couple of months and experienced the over reving a bit but what seems very noticeable is the vibration through the pedals when I’m at 2k revs. Once I go beyond 2.2k revs the vibrating stops? There’s obviously something about the 2k revs position as on occasion it will stay at this point even when speed reduces to as low as 15mph. Maybe a higher/quicker charging point? But the vibrations does not seem right. Been to dealership twice and they say they can’t find anything - anyone else experienced this??

Whilst I drive quite a lot around 2.000 rpm (city motorway around 90 km/h), I never noiced any vibrations so far. SO it certainly is not normal. I also think that it is hard to impossible to tell teh transition hybrid/EV mode, even in my Toyota Auris you could feel a really minimal kick in (not switching off though).

Is it when the engine is mostly driving the wheels only (like in my case at this limited speed motorways), or lower speeds and charging parallel? Could narrow down what's wrong.

Tires are also a potential culprit, depending on brand there might be a layer f silencing foam in them, and when wet/after start, that can cause unpleasant vibrations

Seems to happen more when it’s charging or there’s drain on the battery (eg when heater on). The engine seems to be working harder so get vibration but make it work even harder (ie over 2.2k revs) it smooths off

I'll watch out for that, but again, can't be that bad as I have not yet really noticed. Then again, 4 cylinder engines aren't an inline 6 or Lexus V8, so certain vibrations are normal (wait until you drive a cold 3 cylinder from Ford, Stellantis or VW), and the MG 1.5 (and neither the GM/Opel SCE engine it is related to) isn't actually known to be the smoothest of units to begin with.

Hello,
Yes, I have a similar problem. The cabin vibrates just before the engine switches over to EV mode. I've got it booked in next week so I hope they can find out what it is.

Trying to make sense of this, perhaps the software controlling the startup and shutdown sequence of the engine, becomes “confused” and quickly stops the engine and then restarts it, or the reverse. This might cause the engine to “vibrate” sufficiently to be felt in the car, or on the accelerator peddle.
Or perhaps, it might be a problem with the engine mounts?
Just guessing really.
Cheers Noel.

What I don’t understand is it’s at its worst for me up to 2.2 revs and then it smooths out. Give it a more revs and it’s loads better so makes me think it can’t be mounts? Something about charging in that range that causes vibration. Booked in for early April for them to keep it a few days to investigate.

This could be a problem with the generator switching on and off, when helping to charge the battery. Mine vibrates, but not enough that I would say it's a problem.

Quite a few things it could be (as already mentioned), wheel balancing, engine mounts, generator (I reckon), or generator mountings.

Hello,
Did you get this sorted?
Thank you,

Hi car is booked in for early April for them to have another look at it. I guess you’re having the same issue?
HI,
I have had my ZS+ for about a month and covered about 750 miles, have the exact same issue with vibration through the accelerator pedal at 2000-2200 revs, my car goes in at the end of April would be interested to know how you get on. Thanks.

My car has been with garage (Holden Norwich) for last few days and they couldn’t find anything. Checked engine mounts etc etc and all fine. They also raised it with MG who were “unaware of any such issue”. So seems it’s going to stay like it! Now stuck on what to do with it - get rid and lose money or just put up with it. Only other option I found to cure it was to drive quicker so over 2400 revs and turn my music up - that cured it!

Sorry to hear that, was hoping that you would get a resolution to your issue. Sounds like yours is worse than mine, I have the pedal vibration between 2k and 2.2k revs (worse when the engine is cold) but it's more of an annoyance, it's the only fault I can find with the car.

In fairness it’s the only moan I have with the car - otherwise I really like it. Maybe I’ll just have to get used to it. And if it’s the way they are and it’s not “wrong” then I’m sure I’ll grow to ignore it!!

Amazing that music can cure so much.
