Problems connecting newly purchased used car to iSmart

I forgot about that - and that probably makes more sense than someone from France emailing MG UK. 🤦‍♂️😂
You can only unbind your own car from the app, you can’t unbind a car that was paired by another owner, that needs MG customer services.

You can request MG to unbind the car from a previous owner via the app.It's explained in this thread.

Hi all, similar situation happening to me except the QR code shows up, I scan it and it populates my vin and colour etc, however the app won’t update at all.
 
Hi I’m still having a problem connecting to MG iSmart. I have just purchased a used MG4 EV 2023. I have downloaded the isSmart app and opened an account using my phone number.
It then asks me to bind with the car. When I try to log into the car screen using the phone number and password, I get a message telling me ‘Implementation has failed try again later’ and if I try to log in with the QR code, the screen initiates but the QR code does not appear.
I have tried changing the background from auto to light and dark just in case the code was there but I couldn’t see it.
Do you think that maybe the previous owner did not de-bind or would that not make any difference? Any ideas very welcome, thank you!
Hi Rob,

I had the exact same issue when I got my MG4 last year. In the end I had to email MG Customer support with proof of ownership (V5), along with my details, car reg and VIN with a request to reset the iSmart.

MG aftersales is notorious, but to their credit in this instance they unbound the previous owner from the car within a few hours. Once this is done, you should see a "Connect to vehicle" button appear on the user screen within the cars menu and you should be able to follow the instructions in the iSmart app to connect.
