So, I took my MG5 to Chiswick MG for its third service and first MOT today. I asked about the Tesla update, which was supposed to be done last year, but it doesn’t seem to be working. After telling the service guy about this, he quoted me £80 for it, but he said he’d ask the service boss. I was a bit suspicious because I had heard that others had had it done for free.
Update:
I picked up the car & was told that it needed a new part for the Tesla charging ability - £360. He gave me the service sheets, MOT, and a tech bulletin from MG that basically matched what was on the FAQ of this thread. I tried to argue that it should have the right part because it’s a pre-FL 2022, but they only go by the MG notes.
I checked when I got home with an endoscope and sure enough, it’s an EVCC-02 with the part number 11313393. So, what now? Should I call and argue that they can update it? Is there a way of telling what updates have been applied? Unfortunately, there aren’t any nearby Tesla chargers to check, but it didn’t work last time I tried.
