Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

I asked for it to be done on my last dealer service, they said they didn't know anything about the update, when I picked the car up they said they still hadn't had an answer. A week later I rang back, they said they could do it but it would be £100+vat, needless to say I haven't had in done.
And I would recommend looking for a different dealer.

My dealer couldn't find the update until I said I would pay for it then suddenly it’s half an hours labour ………

Dealer wants £50 to do it. They actually don't know if it's been done or not.

It turns out MG UK have no idea which, if any, cars in UK stock have the mod.

I suppose I'll cough up the £50 but I think it ought to have been included on a new car.

My garage didn’t know about the update (beginning of the year) it wasn’t showing on their computers. It was only when they connected the car it showed as being required.

You have got to admire their nerve! Personally there is no way I would be agreeing to an additional charge to ensure the software is up to date on a brand new vehicle!

As a matter of interest here’s the charge screen from my app after adding in a tenners worth to my MG5 pre facelift at Heartlands supercharger today.

The prices for Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy don't look too dissimilar from here at home. Surprising as we all think it's so much cheaper in Europe.

Quite a small sample and the really expensive one was a Shell who are generally the most expensive anywhere. The real shock for me was a visit to The Netherlands where the Tesla chargers were extremely cheap by UK standards.

I was typically saving 17-32p/kWh by using Tesla versus nearby chargers.

Wilson's updated the EVCC software free of charge - and washed the car. Yesterday, I took it to the Tesla Supercharger at Denbies, Dorking and it worked perfectly first time. I had also asked Wilson's to do the SC052 update but they misread it as SC055 and noted that it had already been done when the car was being serviced in June - so the 12V battery still isn't getting fully charged. Does anyone know what problem the SC055 update addresses?
Good to hear you got the Tesla update OK in the end, I'm off to the same garage tomorrow for a service and will ask for the software update for my ZS.

As of now I've not been able to test whether the update "works" because there are no Open Tesla Chargers within about 50 miles of where it live; and the dealership was scheduled to close permanently a few weeks after the update was done.

Well, I can finally update this!

Yesterday, I tried my first Tesla charge (at Trentham Gardens, Stoke on Trent) and despite, "initial user incompetence" (I tried to connect to one of the older units, but quickly moved to one of the newer) the charge was successful!!!

Just one question for others who've managed to successfully charge via a Tesla unit: the actual cost was £13.92 but I see my bank account has a pending payment to Tesla of £20. So, do Tesla actually make an initial "holding charge"?

They don't if you use the app. Did you use the app or contactless?

Then I really don't understand. It has never done that for me. Perhaps it treats different cards differently.

The actual cost, £13.92, has already gone from my bank account; the other £20 is still showing as "pending". Hopefully, it will "disappear" within the next few days!

I wonder whether this £20 has anything to do with the fact that this was my first use of a Tesla charger and the app?

I have used the app and it definitely uses a £20 holding charge. How do I know ? Well user stupidity, I tried several times to start a charge without success until I realised I had not transferred money into the account that the app used used for payment. A few notifications from the banking app telling me £20 refused due to lack of funds alerted me to my error. Transferred money in and worked perfectly and the amount charged was the only amount noticed on my account as the holding charge was nowhere to be seen immediately charge finished.

@Gomev

Thanks for that. Though in my case the circumstances are a little different! The account linked to the Tesla app is my main bank account so there was no problem about there being no funds available.
