... I based my guesstimate on having a bumper repainted with special expensive flexible paint on a 1980's Sierra and added a bit for inflation and robbery.At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask

The higher premium was the biggest initial concern about going down the insurance route but the splitter had started to droop which put it past a touch-up job.
Got one independent quote and they said they'd do everything (minus the recalibration, which would need paid for elsewhere) for £1200 (top marks for @Everest)
From that point on it was crossed fingers and insurance!

Colleague bought a brand new BMW 1 series hybrid a month ago. Two weeks later he saw and dashcam recorded a bloke scratch his lower door. Deep into the paint but not creased. Hands held up and details sorted, dashcam footage made claim undeniable and liability immediately accepted by 3rd party insurers.
Quite rightly he’s insisted it’s going to BMW for repair. Apparently it’s getting a new door

The scratch was about 3 inches, metallic blue paint. That’s going to cost more than a decent holiday!
Back to topic, I think dashcam is a must. Especially as I have a monumental excess…..

Look in the Accessories board ... there's one or more threads there about dashcams. You can either power it from the 12V socket between the front USB sockets, or from a specific fuse in the fuse box inside the cabin. (Hence why I suggest finding that thread ... all the details are laid out).
PS - I've responded on the basis of an MG4 since this was posted in an MG4 thread in an MG4 board, even though your forum profile still says MG5 SE LR.
