    Wading depth

It could be that 2-stroke engines are different? My understanding is that exhausts dont ever suck water up and it's it getting into the induction system that is the problem. On my golf, the engine air intake was just below the bonet lip, ie quite high. But on many BMW, it is low down near the...

Updated iSmart app - android only

Hi On FB they’re reporting a new android iSmart version with additional features. Credit to Daniel Brown. But no update to the iOS app. Let’s hope it’s not another software divergence as evident for the Trophy and SE car software packages.

    Wading depth

I always think a foot is ok but you need to go really slowly. Rufford Ford is always on YouTube with petrol engines being wrecked due to ingesting water as they all go too fast and create a bow wave. Forces are high though from water, so crawling through makes sense.

    New version (1.1.12) MG iSmart

I presume that is on Android? Useful to say with apps as they get released at different times.

ACC heavy braking on version R30

But all eco mode does is drastically dull the accelerator response, it isn't actually 'eco'. It does disable the A/C cooling and heating too, if linked, but if you want to simulate the heater on a 1965 Austin Mini, you can always disable the AC and heating with the physical switch.

    Wireless CarPlay dongle recommendation

On one of the FB MG4 groups, someone posted praising this dongle - it does wireless apple carplay. It seems it does youtube and netflix too via the main MG4 screen, and can do amazon music too... I haven't tried it but it sounds interesting. Thete's only one left though. wireless carplay dongle

Anybody got an SE without the rear privacy glass? Pics?

My SE SR has the very dark privacy glass at the rear, so must have been one of the early mistakes. I quite like it, you can't see anything on the back seat. I never have anyone in the back, so no-one worries it's really dark without a light back there.

    80% or 100%

That's very clear and I agree. However I was leaving my SR on the drive for 18 days recently, so I purpousfully ran it down to 70% before leaving it. I wouldn't want to leave even the SR at 100% for so long unused. NB I got back and the main battery was at the same %, and the 12v battery was...

    Vibration in steering wheel

For both of you, try turning the AC system off (LH button) and see if it stops. I find the heater / Ac is audible when outside the car, and it drives a refrigerant compressor, so there could be some vibration from that. if it goes when AC is off it's that, otherwise it's a bit of feedback from...

MG4 Heating working but won’t heat up

You can! There is a separate setting, where you can link Eco to disabling the heater and AC, or not link it. So you can chose whether Eco disables the system. NB Eco just dulls the accelerator response, it doesn't really make the car more economical.

    MG4 USB ports?

Because I prefer to use a dedicated memory stick, and I don't want to activate apple carplay as I don't use it, and I don't want to subject the phone to loads of extra short recharge cycles a day as it is plugged in and unplugged, because I can control the USB stick from the car but can't...

    MG4 USB ports?

not what they asked though, is it. USB MG4 summary LH front USB A port Can be used for Apple Car Play and Android Auto (though needs a good quality data cable to connect to the phone). Can be used for 5v power, and as a data port for a memory stick with music or video on. The SE doesn't...

    Acceleration at higher speeds

Hi. What mode were you in? If normal or sport you should get significant acceleration. Eco applies a boring lack of response to everything including the brakes.

    Mg4 tyre pressure

Possibly +/- 20% is ok for safety purposes, ie tyre overheating if under inflated or bursting if over, but that could give a 40% variation between wheels if one is +20 and one is -20% which would drastically unbalance the car. My previous car was a GTi and there were long discussions about...

EV opposition in the media is ramping up

Why don’t we all start rumours that the nearby filling stations are short of fuel? That would cause everyone to race out and fill their tanks, and there would be a fuel shortage within days. We could all chuckle as we drove around merrily. Only joking of course!

Movie files on MG4 infotainment system

I’ve got a dodgy Avatar movie I downloaded years ago, MP4 and it plays on my iPhone and laptop too. I out it on the car’s usb stick and it doesn’t even show the file let alone play it. Do I need to re-process it somehow?

    Mg4 upgrades

Another question, and thanks as always for your help. Did you have to pay import duty or VAT on arrival? I've not had to for other items I've had from aliexpress, but they were more like £10-20 than £160. Thanks.

    Mg4 upgrades

Also, what is the breathability like compared to the fabric seats? With it being hot recently, are they more sticky than the fabric seats? Thanks for the info.
