    Noob charging question...

Good thought, Arf. They may give you a significant discount on the newer model price for the goodwill. Sorry you've had this problem - just bad luck, I think.

    Miles/kWh

Pretty good. For anyone anal enough to be interested ( :) ) a decent of 700ft buys you about 3100kJ of energy which is equivalent to 0.9kWhrs (approx). Your trip of 17miles used an apparent 17.4/6.9kWhrs or 2.5kWhrs. But it would have used 2.5 + 0.9 = 3.4kWhrs if you hadn't had the benefit of...

Looks like you might just squeak in on the warranty, then Roaduser.

    Steering

I'd ring the MG dealer you are intending to use and tell them that you have got a new MG which appears to have a steering issue. Would they take a look to confirm and then specifically ask them if any steering alignment adjustment that may be necessary would be covered under warranty. Most...

    Steering

That's disappointing. You'd think they would have these kind of things spot on with a new car wouldn't you? Maybe the cars get knocked about in transport from the factory to the dealers?

    Noob charging question...

I'm going for charging port, based on nothing other than good old fashioned gut feel.

    Steering

Does sound like it may have taken a knock or, if not, maybe just badly set up in the factory (pretty unlikely) or even knocked in the process of the car being delivered to the dealer? I'd definitely get it looked at, ideally by the supplying dealer. Good luck.

    Miles/kWh

Yes, I reckon we are all driving round like old grannies (apologies to the old grannies that might be reading this) with the display set to miles/kWhr, instead of MPH :) As you say, such a smooth ride, no irritating acceleration blip between gear changes. No need to drive with one hand on the...

    Miles/kWh

I can see that you haven't reset your accumulated trip counter since you bought the car, Les, and you have achieved 4.4miles/kWhr averaged over 3000+miles. That is a pretty good result in my book and suggests that the manufacturers quoted range is not optimistic but easily achievable...

    Miles/kWh

I'm sure driving style will be a factor as well as KERS settings. Either way you won't get much over 4, maybe 4.5miles/kWhr - it's just not possible due to the laws of physics. Over a short journey and starting from the top of a long downhill stretch the results will be distorted. My challenge...

I like my car and, unlike my mobile phone, I never feel inclined to smash it against the wall on a regular basis :)

New Member Hello and MG5 EV query...

Yeah, I'm sure it's covered in the manual somewhere, but, frankly I couldn't be bothered to look.

    Suspension too soft and bouncy?

I'm not sure why I never use Normal and Sports modes. I think it's the old fuel consumption ghost from back the ICE age. Since it's about 5x cheaper on fuel to run an electric car relative to a petrol/diesel one, I should probably let my hair down and give it a try.

    Worrying fact about my mg5

Maybe Harves can tell us if the EBA operated on this occasion? I drive another vehicle (Subaru XV) with all kinds of safety contraptions (they call the system Eyesight). To be honest, most times it triggers or alarms when you don't really want it to such as approaching a large sign on a tight...

    Sat Nav and Speed Camera's

Yes, I discovered that you can do this in the MG5 as well. It's great for people like me who tend to drive as safely as possible by spending as much time as possible looking at the road and perhaps less time looking for speed limit signs. In the MG5 case it only warns you once, I have found. If...

    Worrying fact about my mg5

So sorry to hear that. You'll see from another thread that I bent the wing on mine after 1000miles of ownership, and also after 35yrs of driving. It shakes your confidence but you've got to get back on with it. It happens to everyone sooner or later. Must be something about these cars :-)...

    Suspension too soft and bouncy?

No it was more an aroma of chicken chow mein I'd say with just a subtle whiff of prawn cracker. Believe me, if there had been a way of collecting it I would have - ideal for hiding some of the kitchen smells that my wife is capable of producing. I'm pretty sure that nitrogen stuff is BS. As an...

But I paid for that OEM air. I just can't bring myself to let any more go than I already have.

    Suspension too soft and bouncy?

Frankly so do I, especially since we have now left the EU and no longer risk a criminal record for using it. Can't answer you question re the display units I'm afraid. For anyone still living in fear that there is a lunatic driving around with his tyres set to bursting pressure, I can now...
