battery

An electric battery is a source of electric power consisting of one or more electrochemical cells with external connections for powering electrical devices.
When a battery is supplying power, its positive terminal is the cathode and its negative terminal is the anode. The terminal marked negative is the source of electrons that will flow through an external electric circuit to the positive terminal. When a battery is connected to an external electric load, a redox reaction converts high-energy reactants to lower-energy products, and the free-energy difference is delivered to the external circuit as electrical energy. Historically the term "battery" specifically referred to a device composed of multiple cells; however, the usage has evolved to include devices composed of a single cell.Primary (single-use or "disposable") batteries are used once and discarded, as the electrode materials are irreversibly changed during discharge; a common example is the alkaline battery used for flashlights and a multitude of portable electronic devices. Secondary (rechargeable) batteries can be discharged and recharged multiple times using an applied electric current; the original composition of the electrodes can be restored by reverse current. Examples include the lead-acid batteries used in vehicles and lithium-ion batteries used for portable electronics such as laptops and mobile phones.
Batteries come in many shapes and sizes, from miniature cells used to power hearing aids and wristwatches to, at the largest extreme, huge battery banks the size of rooms that provide standby or emergency power for telephone exchanges and computer data centers.
Batteries have much lower specific energy (energy per unit mass) than common fuels such as gasoline. In automobiles, this is somewhat offset by the higher efficiency of electric motors in converting electrical energy to mechanical work, compared to combustion engines.

    Isn't that annoying? ?

Do you think, like me, that there is far too little time (3 or 4 minutes) before the eternal warning that when you stop, with the engine off, there is a risk of draining the 12-volt battery? On my old Jazz hybrid it was after 25 minutes.

Xpower Battery Specs, Economy and Regen question

Hey all, I am struggling to understand how the battery stats add up on the Xpower. To start with the battery is apparently rated at 64kWh (approx 62kWh useable) but yet other Teslas etc get more range on less battery , I understand this could be due to software and efficiency etc and whether...

12V battery - how is it charged and how do I charge it?

So I've been reading and trying to figure this out. Can anyone confirm or correct my findings? The 12V battery is charged from the HV battery when driving. The 12V battery is charged from the HV battery if I press the start button two times, without pressing down on the brake pedal. It's okay...

I have done an online price guaranteed quote for a small PV install and battery with Heatable, which seems remarkably good value. Their online reviews look very good too. Does anyone have any personal experience of this company, are they really that good and reasonably priced ?

    How do MG calculate mi/kWh

I wonder if anyone with more experience of MG EVs can explain how MG calculate consumption (mi/kWh). The trip today was 88 miles, we started with 100% battery, and over that journey the consumption would have been pretty much the same. The Cyberster provides several numbers: The average mi/kWh...

How accurate are the "Current Journey" Stats or is my battery goosed

I noticed this earlier in the year and been waiting on long drive to confirm, if those dash stats are correct then my battery has quite a lot less capacity than it should. The car is a 2023 ZS facelift, short range LFP battery. On a long run I'm only getting an actual battery capacity of about...
