A hybrid vehicle is one that uses two or more distinct types of power, such as submarines that use diesel when surfaced and batteries when submerged. Other means to store energy include pressurized fluid in hydraulic hybrids.
Hybrid powertrains are designed to switch from one power source to another to maximize both fuel efficiency and energy efficiency. In hybrid electric vehicles, for instance, the electric motor is more efficient at producing torque, or turning power, while the combustion engine is better for maintaining high speed. Improved efficiency, lower emissions, and reduced running costs relative to non-hybrid vehicles are three primary benefits of hybridization.

    How does this particular hybrid system work?

    Having done 2.5k miles it seems to have no rhyme or reason to what we are running in at any given time. I can have my foot on the brake approaching a red light and the engine revs up. When driving at a constant speed on level ground, it is forever hunting for the right gear & in and out of EV.

    Just picked up my new ZS Hybrid + from Falkirk yesterday morning. First brand new car I’ve ever bought so I’m over the moon with it. The only think I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t run on EV mode as much as I expected. Is this normal? Thanks

    We have two quotes now, but neither one mentions servicing the EV side of the car, has anyone else had a quote for that. The way I see it is the engine is an engine and can be serviced much cheaper elsewhere so why pay dealer rates.

    Looking at the MG3 Hybrid Service Manual, it specifies C5 SP 0W-20 grade synthetic oil. This is clearly what the car is delivered with. It is also what Toyota Hybrids are shipped with.
