Dear colleagues,

I am writing to inform you of an issue I am experiencing with my MG EV, which I purchased in 2021 and has only 48,000 kilometers on it.

Yesterday, the 12V battery icon turned on, indicating a problem with the battery. I replaced the battery, but unfortunately, that did not resolve the issue. It appears that the car is not charging the 12V battery, causing the new battery to drop to 8.9V.

As a result, I have towed the car to the dealership and am hopeful that they will be able to rectify the problem under warranty as soon as possible.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I don't suppose you tried to do an AC charge while the 12V battery wasn't being charged?

I ask because a common problem with Mitsubishi iMiEV EVs is blowing a high voltage fuse that is common to the DC-DC converter (which is what should be charging the 12V) and the on-board charger (needed for AC charging, but not rapid DC charging). Though usually that fuse blew because of parts in the on-board charger blowing up.

The iMiEV community became adept at repairing these. Often £10 in parts and a few hours of DIY labour would save buying a £2000 combined charger and DC-DC unit. Hopefully there is no need for MG owners to do this for a while.
