Hi

I recently purchased a MG4 Esscence Long Range ( I think this is the equivalent to a Trophy Long Range overseas.

I have moved my dash cam from my old ICE car to my new MG4. It used to turn on with the car in my old car and stay on but in the MG4 it turns on when I get inside the car and sit on the drivers seat but as soon as I press the brake to have it in " ready " mode and start driving the dash cam goes off. I have to manually unplug it and plug it in again for it to come back on.

I am guessing the power voltage drops for a moment when going into " ready " mode causing the dash cam to go off. Is there a way to fix this ? or do I have to hard wire it to the fuse box or ODB port ?

Thanks

Mine is hardwired and does sometimes get a bit confused whether it should be in parking mode or normal recording mode, but it doesn't turn off. I'm afraid I can't give you any good advise, but I know there are a few people on this forum that use the 12V plug for their dashcam so hopefully someone will come by shortly with some troubleshooting tips :) And welcome to the forums!

I've wired mine (hidden) across the top of the screen and under the side pillar trim to the carpet area underneath the glove box. I then use a 20000mAh Powerbank to power the dashcam for 24 hours continuously if needed (parking and driving modes). If needed I swap this with another charged powerbank. A strip of velcro on the back of the powerbank will secure it on the carpet and under the footmats, so all wiring is out of site.

Just be aware when using powerbanks inside a car in summer. They can get very hot and could cause a problem. Especially if you charge the power bank from the car with pass through charging.
If you're swapping them out and only using it when the car's powered off, just keep the bank out of sunlight.
