So just got the ZS EV and plugged in the AAWireless dongle i got for christmas back in 2022 (When we expected to get a ZS EV that we ordered, but ended up buying a Tesla after they slashed the prices).

Dongle works perfectly with AA Wireless but there is one annoying thing.

It seems the USB-A port it plugs into is either

A : On all the time
B : Wakes up at random times.
c : Is on, even with car completely off and locked, but charging

The effect is, if I or the wife goes to the kitchen or is in the kitchen (Car is parked right outside of the kitchen window) we get a notification, that the phone connected to AA, via the dongle.

Does anyone know if it is possible to make it so that this port is only on when the car is in either aux mode or ready mode and does not wake up?

If not....Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so.....What solution, if any, did you use to get this to NOT happen.

Called my wife today from my car and she kept "disappearing" while we spoke, because her phone kept switching to the AA in the car.

I just unplug my dongle when I turn the car off and plug in when I need it, I keep it in a cup holder so easy to get. If I leave it plugged in all the time, seems that my phone gets confused between connecting to the car or dongle so for me, it works to first start the car then plug in the dongle ...

In your case, it's the phone preferring to connect automatically to your AA dongle. Easier to unplug it then to mess around with the phone settings ... As for disabling USB-A port, I wouldn't even think of it, what if you mess something up with infotainment?

Doesn't this negate the reason for having a wireless dongle? If you have to plug it in each time you get in the car, then may as well just plug the phone in. I had one of these wireless dongles for a while and had similar issues + it was temperamental so I just bought a short cable. I still find it astonishing that a 2024 car only has wired AA. I travel quite a bit and even the most basic rental cars all seem to have wireless AA built in.

I'm fine with the dongle even if I have to plug in every time, not as messy as cables. I could probably sort it out if I fiddle with the phone settings but can't be bothered. Some other people have no problem leaving the dongle plugged in, works fine for them (not sure but I think theirs are WiFi, not Bluetooth.. or maybe their phone is setup properly..)
If the car manufacturer wants inbuilt AA, they need Google to approve and then pay licence, maybe back in 2021 when the car came out that was not an option ...?

Seems like there is no "elegant" solution...

I will probably find a proper aux feed (only 12V when car is partially or fully on) and do some small box with a relay the cuts the positive lead in the usb cable that connect the box to the car when the car is off.
