Not an MG
Went out in a demonstrator yesterday to test drive & still
in the thinking about it mode at the mo.
Whilst it all looked good and was relatively comfortable in the few mile I drove. It was very noisy so much so that normal conversation was impossible.
Had to shout between occupants front to rear as the road noise was very loud, certainly on drivers side .
Rear seat passenger was gobsmacked by it. Said it was deafening sat in the r/o/s seat.

Is this a known issue with this model ?
Or a one off on the car driven?
Not a lot of info on the net at the mo except glowing blurb by various other sites .
Have seen one or two owner reviews but thin on the ground.
Dealer does have a few in stock. And I can pick one as early as Saturday.
To be fare dealer /sales boss offered me a good deal on the motobility scheme up front deposit .
But do I want to get tied up with a lemon for the lease period.
Still pondering ?🤔

Get a demonstration at another dealer or different model of car. Mines not at all kike you describe
Unfortunately local to me just the 1 dealer with that model.
Thought I'd get rid of my old Chevrolet Orlando but now thinking of plodding on with it it's much quieter and quick /economical if you hit the loud pedal .
We also have a newish Seat Atica in the family so may go that route . Cheers for your input

A lot of the online reviews say that the new ZS Hybrid suffers from a lot of road noise but to be honest I don't think it's any different to the Renault Clio hybrid that I had previously.

Mine is a very good drive i do not now what one you drove but it does not sound right.

The tires used are "Giti" which are very hard, hence the rolling noise. Simply put on a different, higher quality tire.
Whilst I do not find the ZS to be particularly noisy (I mean we are talking about a B segment SUV at the lower price end after all, so do not expect double glazed executive car levels of refinement), for Winter I do now have Dunlop Wintersports, so more premium tyres than the standard Giti summer tyres it came with, I would say that the noise is more pleasant. So some summer tyre with optimized low noise will certainly again be better.
Though you will probably trade a bit of economy there, as e.g. I do find Conti Eco Contacts to also have a rather noticeable hum that Sport Contacts or Premium Contacts lack, despite all being premium tyres form the same expensive brand.

Problem now solved I binned the idea of a Chinese version of an MG,after another test drive over a longer distance in another Trophy still like diving and old van audio wise.

And have now gone over to Volvo which I had for the day,a good few miles same roads and 💯 improvement .

Cool. You're never going to get a completely quiet ride in a vehicle that's priced as low as the MG. Like I said before I had a Clio hybrid previously with Continental tyres fitted and there's no difference in the road noise at all but then the Clio is a relatively cheap car as well. Personally I don't find the road noise of the MG intrusive in the slightest. I also ride a Chinese owned Italian motorcycle which I've covered 11,000 miles on, it has served me well over the last three years with no issues at all, yes it's not up to Japanese standards but it was hell of a lot cheaper to purchase than a Japanese bike in the first place and just as much fun to ride 👍

At least you stayed Chinese, you just went more up-market.

Well there's something I've learned today.
Admittedly, Volvo still retains its own management, but Zhejiang Geely Holding Group holds the controlling interest.
