I thought this was miraculous - after a night on the normal domestic socket, our new ZS showed a capability on Eco mode of 219 miles. As attached image. After 1200 miles I have begun to set in on E mode all of the time. Yes, it was too good to be true, within 10 miles it had dropped to 165 miles range, and there is settled down to normal.

My question is, why would it have shown 219 in the first instance as soon as I switched the car on? Where the batteries 'equivalencing' maybe? I have really no idea what that means or how it works.

On the E mode it gave us a wonderful 60 miles on the motorway, laden to the max with all of my daughters, return-to-uni stuff. Excellent handing and still power to spare. We are both really pleased with this car.

It calculated 219miles based on your previous driving data stored in your trip.
This is why a lot of us always reset our accumulated trip after every charge, so that it resets the displayed range to use the base default calculation.

Ahh, that would explain why it dropped so quickly on the M5 60 mile drive to Bristol. Waay more than the actual real mileage. Also I guess because it was fully laden and at motorway speeds. So how to reset the trip?

We would ALL like to see an actual range of 219 miles !.
But as @JodyS21 points out, it is purely a prediction based on your previous trips and driving style.
I also favour reset BOTH of my trips, prior to making a long trip.
It will give you a more believable / accurate prediction of your range, I have found.

Good to know - thank you both.

with me the gom becomes unreliable under 100 kilometers range, it then jumps after a short ride or does not count down .. after stopping it is often good again, even the final range is often correct.
