MG4 SE SR
Hi All

I've just picked up my new MG4 SR today, whilst driving home I noticed it was getting hot in the car, so I tried turning on the fans and it wouldn't start, no heat or AC. Noticed the displayed temperature was -40.

Phoned MG Maidstone and they didn't have a clue, they told me to charge it overnight as the MG4 carries out a diagnostic and hopefully it will correct itself.

The smart app shows ambient temperature interior as ---- and exterior ----.

Just wondering if anyone knows what's wrong, before I have to drive back to the dealership?

Thanks in advance.

Craig

That's where everyone has been going wrong, they have been taking them back to the dealers to get them fixed, when all along the car can do it itself!!

From what one can read here the car might actually be more competent than some dealerships.

Edit:

On a more serious note there are two known faults with the HVAC system (and one possible user error).

Make sure the "A/C" button on the heater control screen is switched on and it's NOT in "eco" mode.

Issue #1: Some cars' HVAC system just does not start up sometimes. It might be related to charging as in some cases it happens after unplugging the car. My car's HVAC almost never works when I unplug it from the charger and start driving immediately. The only solution to this - as far as I know - is to lock the car and go away for 10 - 15 minutes to let it shut down. If not plugged in it usually works when started up again.

Issue #2: Some cars' interior temperature sensors seem to be faulty. In the iSMART app you can check the interior temperature. In some cars sometimes it shows 87°C or other improbable values.

Generally in many cars the heater has to be set to relatively high temperature levels to get some decent heat out of them. The two issues are not related seemingly, one can have both (mine does). As far as my dealer told me MG does not have a solution for any of them (yet).

Hi

Thanks for the info.

I think it's a sensor issue as the temperature never changes from -40. The ismart app has no readings for outside and inside temperature. You would have thought that it would have shown an error but only shows ---- for both readings.

Got soaked this morning as I needed to open the window when driving to demist the car

Regards

Craig
