Ah, I see the loophole they are using. In the Ireland T&C's it says you have to be 500 miles (804km) from your home address before they will repair at the roadside or relay you to the garage nearest to where you live. From your original post, you were 200km.
Edit: Very different from the UK T&C's where you only have to be a quater of a mile from home to get the full works.
That's not how I read it. The 500 miles you mentioned is the Home Start service.
The Relay/Rescue service doesn't mention 500 miles. Because there is no limit. If your car can't be fixed they'll take you to your chosen destination. No matter how far it is. Although not necessarily in One go, If it's really far, they'll "Relay" you. And if they can't take you in One go, they'll put you up in Hotel.
As the OP is only 200km, I don't see the problem. It's doable in a few hours.
I as said, methinks they are trying it on.
