Could any of the SE owners check if they have L2 and L3 pins?
Never mind, my octopus app shows 3.6kw being drawn, but my Ohme charger shows 6.5kw and that roughly equates with how much was added to the car. Strange……Good evening
When I charged my car off my home charger the other night it only drew 3.6kwh ? The wall charger is rated to 7kwh and I thought the car’s built in charger is rated for a similar speed. Anyone had similar results ?
If you look at the number of pins you will see if L2 and L3 are populated as these are the extra pins for a 3 phase connection.
Yes thanks @the briggie , I was asking as we don't have the car or cable yet."Can anyone confirm whether the type 2 cable being shipped with MG4s is single or 3 phase cable..?"
And if he hasn't got the car? If that is the case is a 5 pin or 7 pin type 2 cable supplied with the car? (Single phase or 3 phase)
Alan
1/ we don't know yet about 11kw on the LR models. It was stated on the forum that the first batch of cars were "incorrectly" fitted with 11kw on it should have been 6.6kwYes thanks @the briggie , I was asking as we don't have the car or cable yet.
Our house doesn't have 3 phase so does that mean if you use a single phase cable with the 11kw charger onboard the MG4 that we won't get the full 7kw we currently get with the ZS Mk1..? I've noticed some photos posted of home charging speeds below 7kw for the MG4.
The one I got was not 3 phase. I will try a CPS tethered AC charger when I have a chance to test. Can anyone confirm whether the type 2 cable being shipped with MG4s is single or 3 phase cable..?
6.6KW on the ZS EVHi all, I just caught sight of this thread. As a relative newbie, can anyone tell me what charging power I should be able to achieve with my ZS EV LR Trophy on a 22kW charger with a 3-phase cable? Thanks.
The chargers limit the amount of current they use so they don't overload your supply. I had to have the main supply fuse uprated to 80amp by the National Grid so my charger would be able to supply 7kWGood evening all,

apologies for being silly, but this just reminded me of old school maths exams...Hi all, I just caught sight of this thread. As a relative newbie, can anyone tell me what charging power I should be able to achieve with my ZS EV LR Trophy on a 22kW charger with a 3-phase cable? Thanks.
You went off on one a bit there ??It makes perfect sense to me that all dealer will be suppling Type 2 cables with new cars, as the MAJORITY of domestic supplies in the UK will be single phase.
The MG4 ( like all other MG models ) where intended to be equipped with the standard 7 kw chargers for the UK market.
The cars that slipped through the system where built purely in error, it was never intended for it too be that way in the first place.
I don't really get why people are now asking if they are too receive a 3 phase cable with their cars ?.
If you car HAS been fitted with an 11 kw charger in error and you have the ability to take advantage of this higher charging speed ( which is very likely is only going to happen away from home ) then great !.
If charging speed is really that important, then just buy a cable if you will use it often enough to justify the outlay.
MG never intended for these cars to enter the UK market and people ordered them expecting to receive a 7 kw charger built into the car ?.
Likewise if the dealer had purchased a batch of Type 2 cables, in order to gift to their customers then naturally they would be single phase ?.
Why would they even consider stocking 11 kw cables ?.
Normally MG EV's ( and most other makes ) come supplied with a Granny lead only.
Yeah - I totally understand that the MG4 did not come with a Granny lead, but they did offer to substitute it with a Type 2 lead.
Had MG contacted it's MG 4 short wait time customers and said :- "Your car is ready for collection, but we are holding on to it, due to the Granny lead shortage, however you can have it now if we give you a type 2 lead as a replacement, do you want to wait for the Granny lead ?".
I wonder how many customers would have been prepared to wait - NONE !.
Ask a long awaiting ZS EV facelift customer who has been waiting 10 months for his car, if he would take is car NOW for the price of charging lead !.
MG have stated that they intend to place roughly about 2,000 MG4's orders into the UK before Xmas 2022.
A ZS EV facelift customer can only DREAM of this number of bum's on seats in less than 3 months.
