I can confidently say I've never troubled that particular ACC stalk & wouldn't have a scooby doo how it operates

The ACC isn’t too bad - press button to set speed. Push up to go faster, down to go slower and pull towards you if need to resume after braking. You don’t need to worry about twisting it unless feeling adventurous!

My mental block just now is which direction to twist for Forward and Reverse. I constantly get it back to front ?‍

You pull it upwards towards the steering wheel to re-engage. Pushing it towards the windscreen increments the set speed by 5 mph.

It's the Pilot that confuses me, it should be on a separate stalk.

My interpretation of the yellow display is that there is a CC speed limit stored, and by engaging CC it will use that speed - yes or no?
My real problem with CC is that it uses the brakes rather than Kers, which has been apparently fixed in the new model. Is there an update for our models?

Really, pushing the stalk forward does one of 3 things, like a random process generator ?

This sounds really terrible, I would have it back to the dealers ASAP.

Possibly it's just an expectation given the MG5LR uses KERS on ACC - but since the ZS is more of a facelift rather than a complete reimagining of the car, guess the braking system and ACC might be unchanged

It does use kers for until it needs to stop when it switches to the normal brake

I don’t thin either version of the ZS do - check to see if the power meter goes into the charging section but pretty sure it doesn’t.

Yes - the MG5 needed a software update but the ZS apparently already showed brake lights where appropriate

Are you sure? The MG5 does on ACC but not the ZS.

I'm thinking too that the ACC might be the same unit that is in the ICE version of the ZS. Any thoughts?

If you drive with ACC for example on the motorway, and you come up behind a slower moving vehicle it will use the friction brakes to stop.

Also...If you are on cruise control, and have to slow down by more than one tap down, it will also use the friction brakes to lower your speed.

If you want regenerative braking, for example on an offramp, you need to disengage the CC and engage it again, when you reach the desired speed....Remembering to lower the CC set speed to the speed you want to do.

A bit silly if you ask me, i dont see how it should not be possible to automate this, especially if you need to go slower because the speed limit is lowered, why not just use the KERS to slow down the car.

I was about to pose this very question so thanks for your explanations.
I am a bit OCD about not using brakes as I see it as a waste of kinetic energy. Maybe a dashboard light linked to the brake light would alert the driver to knock off the ACC. ( withe the foot hovering over the brake pedal, of course!)

I do, but usually the opposite way round!
I much prefer the ACC to be on the steering wheel like my previous three cars, the Mokka, Yeti and Picasso.
