Sorry for the long post

I'm after some advice. I started getting airbag warnings on the app and the car itself within weeks of picking up the car (ZS EV LR Trophy - 22 plate). At first they would come and go fairly quickly and stay away for several weeks and then return but over time they become more and more frequent to the point where in the end it was constantly on. As soon as we started the car...ding... Airbag warning light on car and messages in the app and text message.

I did some reading on here and whilst it seemed fairly common there did not appear to be any single cause or fix. I read that people had all sorts of things done like Drivers airbags replaced, side airbags (new seats fitted in some cases), wiring harnesses etc etc. I also read many stating after these initial repairs the fault returned and they then had the Airbag ECU replaced which seemed to resolve the issue.

My car went in on March 8th for 2nd service and warranty repair for the airbag. I advised them of the issues and what I had found in my own investigations but they seemed to disregard anything I said. They reported that they had diagnosed the fault as a faulty drivers airbag. They replaced this under warranty but within a week of picking the car up the fault was back.

My question is did anyone in here ever get a response from MG or a dealer about these issues in relation to a fix. I find it hard to believe all these cars having airbag issues have separate faults. I did read somewhere about MG maybe using a software only fix but it didn't seem confirmed?

@Miles Roberts CG have you heard anything about this fault through Chorley?

Thanks all

If I were you, I wouldn't bother, I would record it on the phone and book with MG garage to repair whatever needs repairing. You don't need to explain anything - waring light is on - fix it!

any parts they previously changed are also covered by 12 months warranty

I also have a ZS EV LR Trophy 22 plate and had this happened following the car being sat for a week during a holiday. We also had many other warnings such as hill start unavailable, front collision warnings (when it was started on the drive). This went on for several weeks which would go away and come back at random along with general instability when starting so I didn't accounted it as a specific issue with the air bags. As I'd been through this same kind of thing with my previous Kia EV I was fairly certain the issue was with the 12V battery and the randomness can be explained by the temperature (e.g. cold morning) and when the car was last driven so never easy to predict. The dashboard voltage always said it was fine >13V. Measuring the voltage with a metre on the actual battery when starting up showed it was low, I think from memory it is meant to be about 13-14V but it would only peak at about 10V when starting. I put it in for service and printed out pictures of the warnings and voltage meter, they were happy to swap out the 12V battery under warranty, said they tested it and found it had "dead cells". The car has been spot on ever since.

surprised they swapped it under warranty; from memory, 12V battery is covered for 1 year only.

thanks for explaining - wish more people would post explanations/solutions of what went wrong and why, instead of complaining once about something and never posting a follow up... ?

Yeah mine is free of any other errors it's just the airbag warning. It's booked back in with the dealer next Friday so will see what they come up with.

When I find out I will post up the solution incase it helps anyone else in the future.

So it went in on the Friday and they identified an issue with the clock/coil spring in the drivers airbag system. I collected it Friday as they had to order the parts. They told me they'd be in within 2-3 days but when I hadn't heard nothing for over a week I called to get an update to find out the parts had been in for days and they forgotten to contact me. They did however book it in the very next day (weds this week) for the repair. All has been fine since but that said it was fine after the first attempt for about a week so I'm not celebrating just yet. ?

My zs ev just started showing airbag fault while I parked for 5 mins to get the kids from school. My 1 year warranty was over in July. Is there my any chance there are specific fuses for airbags and do fuse failure even give faults?
